We've begun the 25-26 school year with a focus on ALL students feeling a strong sense of belonging at Broadview. Charters and community circles are two of our key practices for building belonging at Broadview for all. In all classrooms, students are learning about, and participating in, charters and community circles.

Classroom Charters: Charters are shared agreements of how students want to feel in school. All students in a classroom contribute to a classroom charter and sign their name on the charter when it is finished. Classroom charters are referred to throughout the year, and guide how we act and respond to challenges in the classroom.

Community Circles: Based on indigenous traditions, all students at Broadview participate in community circles. In circles, students and staff pass a talking piece to discuss a situation or question. Community circles build relationships, strengthen community, and give us a structure to share ideas and address challenges and problems.

Broadview Values: Stewardship Broadview Values: Stewardship

September and October

In the 2025-26 school year, all students at Broadview will learn about, and have opportunities to demonstrate, six shared Broadview Values.

In September and October, we are learning about Stewardship.

At Broadview, we define stewardship as caring for ourselves, caring for our school, and caring for our community. Stewardship pushes us to think long-term: how can our actions and words today help strengthen our school and community in ten years?

Earlier this month, our students led a 6-8th grade assembly focused on stewardship. Each student in grades 6-8 is making a commitment to demonstrate stewardship, and our Advisory classes are participating in a door decorating contest with a theme or visual of stewardship.

On Thursday, October 9, some of our 6-8th grade students will lead an assembly about stewardship for our K-2 and 3-5 classes. We invite you to join us in the cafeteria for these assemblies- they will take place in the morning. Stay tuned for specific times!

It’s a great way to connect with students and make a meaningful difference at school, all while getting a nice break outside during your day! For more information email kaila.ann.thomas@gmail.com
