HEMLOCK MIDDLE SCHOOL

January 7th - January 13th

Kids Learn Construction

The 2023 Home Builders Show is announcing a new Kids Learning Construction event. This event is open to students in grades 5th - 8th grade. All 6th - 8th grade participants from our school will work together to assemble a pre-constructed, 4'X4' playhouse built and donated by students in the Construction Management program at Delta College. This experience will demonstrate aspects of real home construction including raising walls, roofing, and painting all performed under the supervision of professional construction managers, home builders and trades people.

Each participant will receive an apron, helmet, safety glasses and a playhouse color coordinated t-shirt. There will be no entry fee for each participant upon wearing the provided t-shirt.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 18th. Arrival time for the participants is 1:15 pm with construction beginning at 2:00 pm.

Below is an example of the playhouse the students will be constructing:

All students must hand in a completed registration form to the middle school office by January 13th. Forms can be found in the middle school office.
