Allie Gibson Achieves Skating Excellence!
Alongside her family, we are proud to recognize Alexandra (Allie) Gibson (Grade 9) for her accomplishments throughout Southern Maine in competitive team and individual skating.
This past weekend (Nov 8-9), Allie’s team (Southern Maine Regional High School Skating Team) participated in a competition in Falmouth. The team did well and Allie placed 3rd in Team Maneuvers and 2nd in her individual category (Aspire 3 Girls Free Skate)! See link: (https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2025/36588/index.asp). Her events were 29 and 36.
What makes these accomplishments even more impressive is that this was her first time competing! Allie is next scheduled to participate in a holiday exhibition in December at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.

MHS Resiliency Project Update 11.17.25
The Resiliency Project continues to spread awareness about Anxiety and the resources available in our community this month. At MHS, we have Lucas Labbe, the coach of culture of accountability, as a resource to all students who need extra support. Our grade level Guidance Counselors are: Joe Rogers, Class of 2029; Deb Curtis, Class of 2028; Julie Cryer, Class of 2027; and Brigitte Kearney, Class of 2026, who are available to students on an ongoing basis.
We have 4 social workers in the West building of the High School: Janis Johnson, Matt Holt, Meagan Desjardins, and Freddie Grunhuvd. In the East Building, we have Erica Brown for social work services.
NAMI Maine is a great local resource for people looking for support in coping with Anxiety. Visit their website @ NamiMaine.org to see all they offer. Nationally, we have the Suicide/ Crisis hotline Text 988 anytime for support. The Trevor Project is another nationwide support program; text TREVOR to access that support. Internationally, there is an OCD foundation at https://iocdf.org with resources and support.
Students also participated in a Worry Wall this week. This was an opportunity to get the things they are worried about out in the open and show each other that they are not alone. We had a suggestions box in the cafeteria over the last two weeks, so students could share ideas on how the school could feel more comfortable and supportive. We have received many suggestions and are beginning to go through them and identify themes.
Next week, we will focus on what students are thankful for and what builds resiliency as we head into our Thanksgiving Break. Any students interested in joining the Resiliency Project can come to Room 43 on Tuesdays during extended homeroom.

REMINDER: CELL PHONE & PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES
A reminder to students and families regarding cell phones and personal electronic devices - district policy prohibits the use of these devices during the school day, therefore school rules dictate that these devices are not to be found in a student's possession. School sanctioned options for storage as listed below - any deviation from those options will result in immediate and progressive consequences. (Of course, we want to avoid consequences if possible)
1. Leave the cell phone/personal electronic device at home.
2. Leave the cell phone/personal electronic devices in your vehicle or the vehicle of a friend/classmate.
3. Leave the cell phone/personal electronic device in your homeroom.
