A Message from Principal Daliposki A Message from Principal Daliposki

Dear PS 199 Families,

Happy December, everyone!

I hope this message finds you well and settling into the cozy rhythm of the season. This time of year brings a special energy to our classroom. Students are full of creativity, curiosity, and a genuine eagerness to learn. It has been wonderful to see them support one another, ask thoughtful questions, and approach their work with so much heart.

As we wrap up this week, the excitement is already building for what is ahead. Next week brings our Winter Shows for music and dance. The students have been practicing with pride and enthusiasm. Whether they are rehearsing choreography, warming up their voices, or refining small details, they have shown impressive dedication. We cannot wait for you to see their hard work on stage. These performances are always a highlight of the year and they are filled with joyful and memorable moments that reflect the spirit of our community.

Inside the classroom, we are maintaining steady routines while we finish projects and prepare for the upcoming winter break. Students are completing assessments, reflecting on their progress, and celebrating the growth they have made since the start of the school year. It is inspiring to see how far they have come.

Thank you for the many ways you support your children at home, including reading together, talking about their day, offering encouragement, and partnering with us throughout the year. Your involvement strengthens our classroom community and it is appreciated every single day.

December Recess

As we head into the holiday season, I want to remind families that the December recess will began on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Schools will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026. I hope this break provides everyone with an opportunity to rest, relax, and spend meaningful time with loved ones. Use this time to recharge, and let’s return in the new year ready to embrace more growth, learning, and exciting opportunities together!

Thank you, as always, for your support and partnership. I’m looking forward to what 2026 will bring, and can’t wait to continue this journey together!

  • The Kindergarten Application opened on December 9th. If you have a child ready for kindergarten, don't procrastinate and miss this opportunity to obtain a seat for your child in a close by neighborhood school. You have until the application closes on January 23, 2026 to complete the application.

Dear Falcon Families,

Hope you're staying warm and cozy this winter! We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the families and friends who supported the PTA's Miss Chocolate catalog sales. Although we didn't reach our $5,000 goal, we were close, and every effort counts! Thank you to all who participated.

Orders will be delivered to the school or directly to your address. We'll send school orders home with your child once they arrive.

A huge shoutout to Ms. Gabriel for an amazing Ballet lesson! We're still beaming with gratitude to all the families who joined us - your energy was felt warmly! The joy and positivity lit up the room! 💃

Mark your calendars:

- 12/17: Multicultural Night (potluck) at 5:30pm - share your culture and celebrate our diversity! 🎉 If you'd like to bring a dish, great! If not, just bring yourself (and your cultural attire, and a poster about your country - due Dec 15th).

- 12/23: PTA General Membership Meeting (Hybrid) at 8:30am, with the Charter Champions Awards Celebration 🏆🥇

Wishing you all good health this winter season!

Kind regards,

PTA

Atentamente

Message from Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos Message from Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos

Dear Families and Colleagues,

As an educator and as a parent, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact of the arts on our young people. When students explore and experience the arts—whether they’re using a paintbrush or a prop, a camera or a clarinet—their self-confidence, critical thinking skills, and creativity flourish.

That is why I’m proud of the work we are doing at NYC Public Schools (NYCPS) to promote arts education, making our school communities even more vibrant and expressive spaces. Between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years, we increased our funding for the arts and grew the number of full-time arts teachers across our system. We’ve invested in the ArtsHub, an NYCPS arts center in Brooklyn, where students can interact with professional artists and where educators can gain support in centering the arts in their schools. And we have expanded our Student Arts Pathways, including violin lessons for Pre-K students, summer arts programming, and inter-borough steelpan and drumline festivals.

In a cultural center like New York City, artistic inspiration is everywhere—and I want to thank the educators, community partners, funders, and more who help bring that inspiration into our classrooms. Every day, you are helping our students find their voices and discover new passions.

In partnership,

Melissa Aviles-Ramos

Chancellor
