🎃 What Happened This Week: Staff Pumpkin Carving Fun!
On Monday, while students enjoyed their day off, our teachers and staff spent the day on professional development — and added a little fun with a pumpkin carving contest! It was a great way to bring some creativity and laughter into our day while preparing for the busy weeks ahead.
When students returned, they were greeted with all the amazing pumpkin art created by our staff! It was a fun and festive way to welcome everyone back and show that even teachers love a good fall challenge. 🍂✨
We’re thrilled to reintroduce Ms. Mathis-Humphrey to our Shaw community! With 25 years of experience in education—22 of those right here at Shaw—Ms. Mathis brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and dedication to her role as a school counselor.
Outside of school, Ms. Mathis is a proud mom to three wonderful children, ages 20, 18, and 13. Both of her sons attend college and work. One is a junior at CU Boulder, and the other is a freshman at Front Range Community College. Her daughter is an 8th grader. She also has three stepchildren. Both of her stepdaughters are in the Air Force, stationed in Japan and in Montana. Her stepson recently graduated from CU Boulder and is living in Hawaii. This year, she’ll be traveling out-of-state a few times to cheer on her youngest at competitions, an all-star cheerleader! When she’s not supporting her kids, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and exploring new places whenever she gets the chance.
A true animal lover, Ms. Mathis shares her home with three little dogs and a cat, adding even more joy and energy to her life.
Ms. Mathis is passionate about working with Shaw students and families, always looking for ways to offer meaningful support and guidance. Her door is always open, and she’s excited to continue building strong connections throughout the school year.
