APS Early Childhood

We are so pleased that you have chosen Austin Public Schools for your child's early childhood education. Our staff has been preparing for the students return and are excited for an amazing year of growth and learning. As we go through this school year, one of our goals is to have high-quality two-way communication with our families through phone calls, email, SeeSaw messages, social media posts, and in person events and conferences. We want to be of service to all our families, so let us know what is going well for your child, and also let us know how we can improve our service to you.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is an Austin Public Schools program that provides parenting information, support, and programming for families with children ages birth to five. There are a variety of Parent-Child activities and classes available both during the day and evening hours. A typical ECFE class includes parent-child activity time, parent education time and child activity time.

Classes are located at Southgate Elementary School.

We are looking forward to connecting with families with young children as we seek to provide a space to learn about early childhood and how to support our little ones, but also to receive feedback and ideas about our programming. These meetings will be held at Southgate Elementary from 5:30 - 6:30 on September 14, November 9, January 11, and April 11. Childcare is available.

If you have a child from 0-5 year old, register them today for free monthly books through "The Read Seed" and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. The Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails a free book every month to eligible children from birth to age 5. Founded in 1995, the Imagination Library operates in participating communities across five countries.
