Great Start!
We have had a great start to the new school year! Thank you for all your help, cooperation and patience as we all transition into new schedules.
Here is the link to the presentation that was sent out prior to the first day of school incase you were not fully enrolled or did not receive it.
IDs, Backpacks and Car Rider Signs
IDs
All students must wear their ID daily. If your child forgets their ID, bring it to school by 9:00am.
If it is lost or you are unable to bring it, send $5.00 for a replacement.
*Make sure students are wearing their ID when they arrive at school and it is not in their backpack.
Backpacks
District policy is that all students carry a clear or mesh backpack. Please make sure this is the only type of backpack your child carries to school daily.
Car Riders - We Need Your Help!
Make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle wearing their ID and backpack when you enter the drop off zone.
Be in the drop off line by 7:40. At this time, if you are not in line, you will have to park, enter the front office and your child will be tardy.
It is important that you cut your car tag out and hang it from your rearview mirror when you enter the parking lot and leave it up until you exit. Your tag is viewed 3 times at pick up.
1.) Your tag needs to be visible in the drive so that your number can be entered.
2.) The second place is at the microphone where your child's name is read and announced over the sound system in the cafeteria.
3.)The third place is when your child is placed in the car.
When tags are laying on the dashboard, they are difficult to see and read at certain angles, especially under the hot, bright sun and the reflection from the windshield. Every second counts in dismissal and if all car riders leave their tag up throughout pick up, this will help us tremendously.
We Need Our Blue Jays Everyday!
Attendance Matters: We are so excited that each of our students are part of the Blue Jay family! This year will be packed full of learning, new experiences and fun! It is very important that your child attends school everyday.
ATTENDANCE Challange!
Every classroom has a popcorn sign outside of the class. Each day the class has 100% of their students in attendance, a popcorn is colored in for that day. When the class colors in all the popcorn, the entire class gets a snack party! This process repeats throughout the year so each class can have multiple parties just for being here at school!
Monthly BlueJay Attendance Bash & Awards!
We need your BlueJay here each and every day, on time, ready to have a great day! Attendance makes a difference in a student's academics. Here at BLECC, we love celebrating our students with good attendance each month by having a BlueJay Bash, Brag Tags, and drawings!
BlueJay Bash
Each month, we will celebrate all of the students that had 100% attendance for that month at our Blue Jay Bash for Attendance. Every month is a new month and the count starts over so make sure you are here each day to attend the Blue Jay Bash!
Monthly Brag Tags
Every student will receive a brag tag for their ID when they are here everyday for the month! Collect one for every month!
There will also be character tags given away every Friday.
Prizes
Each month, the students with 100% attendance will not only get a brag tag and attend the Blue Jay Bash, their name will also be entered into a drawing to win a prize. Here's a sneak peak at just some of the prizes. There will be 1 winner per class, so that's 24 students each month, every month!
Student Recognition
Birthdays
We have already begun recognizing students on their birthday! In the morning announcements, we have recognized all June, July and August birthdays. Mrs. Laird visited with each student and brought them a birthday brag tag for their lanyard. We will also recognize students every Friday who are displaying the character trait for the month. Make sure your child has their ID every day so they can keep collecting brag tags all year long!
BlueJays Flying High
We love to recognize our Blue Jays!
1.) Each month, our teachers will nominate a student from their class who does a great job displaying the traits of our Blue Jay pledge. These students will be the class Blue Jay of the month and also attend the Blue Jay Bash!
2.) From the nominated students, one student will be chosen as our Campus Student of the Month to be recognized by the district with a special luncheon and at the school board meeting!
Blue Jay Pledge
I promise to be a proud Blue Jay.
I will think.
I will dream.
I will believe.
I will succeed.
I will be respectful, responsible, and safe.
I am a proud Blue Jay.
Classroom Attendance Recognition
Classrooms will win attendance banners for meeting the district goal. Each week, every class that ends the week at the district goal of 96% will be awarded with an attendance banner and a big shout-out on our socials!
Congrats to our first classroom winners!
FREE Breakfast and Lunch
ALL students are provided FREE breakfast and lunch. Many students that bring a lunch still like to go through the line and will eat from both their lunch box and tray. They are welcome to do so as we like to expose our students to a variety of choices. Any student that only has snacks in their lunchbox will be sent through the line.
Did you know the menu is posted on our district website!
Parents: We are encouraging independence in eating and opening containers. Please work with your child to open items at home such as pudding cups, plastic ware, milk cartons, and containers. We will always be there to help, but we also want to work on these fine motor skills.
Wednesday College and Military Shirts
We invite our students to wear college or military shirts with the staff on Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, our staff will wear college, technical school, or military shirts to promote college and career readiness. It's never too early to start thinking about the future of our Blue Jays! They will be Channelview High School Falcons before you know it!
Color Days
For the next several weeks we will be doing many fun activities to help learn our colors. One of the activities is for the students to wear certain colors on designated days. This is a list of the days your child should wear each color.
Parent Committee Members Needed
Each school year our campus and district has different committees that we need BLECC parents to serve on. If you are interested, please complete the Google Form:
What to do If Your Child is Absent
Regular, punctual, daily attendance is required of all our students.
We do understand that sometimes our students are sick and need to stay home.
If a student has diarrhea , is vomiting, or running a fever, they need to stay home. Student's must be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
When your child is out, email our Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Alma, at alma.carrizales@cvisd.org
Anytime your student is out for a doctor's appointment or therapy, a note from the doctor or therapist is required. Otherwise, a parent note is needed the day the student returns.
Make sure the note includes your child´s name, teacher´s name, date of absence and reason for absence.
*A student will not be counted absent if he or she leaves school or is late to school and a note from a doctor or therapist is provided for that day.
TODAY: School Store Kick Off!
Today, your child is bringing home a Book Buddy Lanyard letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.
The SchoolStore Program is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000373479 to sign up.
2. Send form emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.
3. Return the Book Buddy Lanyard with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.
Be sure to ask your child for the Book Buddy Lanyard tonight. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!

Sept 4 - Coffee with the Counselor
Join us to learn about the school counseling program, attendance, academics, and social-emotional development in pre-kindergarten.
Check in at the front office and have your ID ready.
Sept 8-12: Safety Week
CISD utilizes the Standard Response Protocol, or SRP, as our safety measure in an emergency. We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously. Multiple times a day, our campus Constable, Officer Matthews, checks all exterior and interior doors to assure they are locked. We require IDs of anyone picking up a student. We also practice our SRP drills so everyone on campus is informed of what to do in an emergency.
Sept 22 - 26: Book Fair
Our Book Fair will be held September 22 - September 26. You may send money in an envelope with your child and a staff member will escort him or her to the book fair. There will also be an eWallet link available closer to the event where you can add funds to your child's account for him or her to use to shop. The book fair will be open during Open House as well but it does tend to get packed. Be on the lookout for more information about our book fair!
Sept 24 - Open House
Open House will be September 24 from 5:00 - 6:30. We can't wait for you to come visit and see everything your child has done so far.
Sept 30 & Oct 1: Picture Day
Looking Ahead...
Picture Days are coming up on:
Tuesday Sept 30 & Wednesday, Oct 1!
*A schedule for which day your child will take a picture will be sent home closer to the event, along with ordering information.
September Character Trait: RESPECT
Each month we will celebrate a character trait and students will have the chance to be recognized with brag tags, a certificate, and an invite to the Blue Jay Bash for displaying the trait.
Please use these resources to review with your child.
