Quarter 2, Here We Come!
BCHS Families,
Fall is definitely here with Homecoming rains that flowed through the literal Boulder Creek! As the weather starts to cool, quarter 2 of the school year is just around the corner! This is a time where parents, students, and teacher can come together during conferences to talk about student progress, next steps for improvement, and to refocus to continue growing and learning for the rest of the semester. Parent-teacher conferences are coming on Thursday, October 16th and are the perfect time to collaborate with the teacher on your student's learning. I always recommend bringing your student to meet with the teacher to be able to be apart of the conversation so they can speak to their learning and their needs. This allows for the incredibly important partnership between student, parent, and teacher to happen! It truly takes a village! See more information about Parent-teacher conferences below.
I also want to remind our community that election day is quickly approaching! This year it is a mail-in ballot only, and it includes two very important measures for the DVUSD community to understand as you cast your vote. The first is the reinstatement of the M&O Override which affects funding for salaries, programs like full-day kindergarten, athletics, and the arts, and also class-size and support for student learning. The second is for the land sale of unbuildable, donated property that DVUSD is wanting to sell. Please be sure to check out more information regarding this election at https://www.dvusd.org/departments/fiscal-and-business-support-services/2025-election. Please also remember to VOTE and mail in that ballot by October 28th for your vote to count!
I am so grateful for the incredible collaboration and support of the BCHS community as we continue through this amazing year! Please come out and see the amazing things happening at BCHS at an upcoming athletics, arts, or community event! We would love to see you!
With PRIDE,
Mrs. Brittany Sutton

Quarter 2 Focus: Showing PRIDE Through Attendance & Timeliness
The second quarter is a fresh start, Jaguars! Every class period counts toward your goals, your grades, and your growth. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals show your PRIDE — and they set the tone for success each day.
P – Prepared
Be ready before the bell rings. Bring your materials, charge your Chromebook, and review what you learned yesterday so you can jump right in today. Success begins with preparation.
R – Respect
Show respect for your teachers, classmates, and yourself by being on time. Arriving late disrupts learning — and you deserve the full experience every class offers.
I – Integrity
Be where you’re supposed to be, when you’re supposed to be there. Making good choices about attendance shows responsibility and pride in your own learning.
D – Discipline
Build strong habits. Set an alarm, get to bed on time, and plan your route to school. Discipline isn’t about perfection — it’s about consistency and effort, day after day.
E – Everyone United
When Jaguars show up, our school community grows stronger. Every seat filled and every face present makes Boulder Creek a place where everyone can thrive together.
Quarter 2 Goal: 95% Attendance, 0 Tardies
Let’s aim high this quarter! Every day you’re on time moves our whole school closer to that goal — and sets you up for long-term success.
“Be here. Be ready. Be a Jaguar who shows PRIDE every day.”
Homecoming 2025! Jagchella!
Boulder Creek High School celebrated another successful Homecoming Week filled with Jaguar spirit and community PRIDE! The week started with an exciting parade showcasing the BC marching band, athletics, activities, and clubs, joined by student from our feeder schools who got a glimpse of what it means to be a Jaguar. Friday’s Homecoming assembly brought the energy and spirit to the next level, leading into an exciting BC Jaguar football victory over Cesar Chavez that night. The week concluded with the Homecoming Dance, where students celebrated tradition, friendship, and school spirit. A special thank you to the BCHS Student Government for organizing the week's events, and to BC Athletics and all of the clubs and activities that participated in the festivities to make the week another unforgettable example of what Jaguar PRIDE is all about!
Helpful Reminders from the Front Office
Signing Student Out-- Especially at End of Day & Signing Students In At the Start of the Day
Signing Out: A parent or guardian must come to the front office and present a photo ID before the student is released. The office will send a pass to get the student from class. Those absences are considered unexcused if the student does not sign out and sign in upon returning to campus. Please know that we will not sign out students 15 minutes before the end of the school day as it typically takes that much time for students to be notified and come to the office. For example, we will not sign out students at 2pm, during a full day schedule that ends at 2:12pm. Please arrive early so we can get your student to you.
Signing In: Please know that if your student is late to school, it is important that a parent/guardian sign the student in to the front office. If the student is not signed in to school, the student is considered tardy and will serve an lunch detention that school day for being late. It is so important that our students are on time and in class to they get the most out of their learning each and every day!
Please refer to our Parent-Student Handbook for more information on BCHS Procedures.
PRIDE Points of the Week
September Focus: Responsibility in Action: Owning Your Choices
Each Monday we share the PRIDE Point of the Week with our Jaguars focusing on our values and a monthly focus. In August, the focus was on character and belonging. It is so important that students recognize that they get to shape how they show up to school, how they show who they are, and how they treat and support the students and staff that surround them. Here are the PRIDE points of the week that were shared in September:
- Prepared: Being prepared means taking responsibility before it’s required. When you come to class ready—on time, cellphone in the backpack, class materials in hand, mindset focused—you show that you take ownership of your learning. Preparedness is a choice you make every day, and it shows others you’re serious about your goals.
- Respect: Respect isn’t just how you treat others—it’s also how you treat your commitments. Showing up on time, completing your work, and keeping your word are ways you “talk the walk.” Every responsible choice you make sends a clear message: you value yourself and the people counting on you.
- Integrity: Responsibility is what you do when no one’s watching. Integrity means turning in your own work, admitting when you’ve made a mistake, and speaking up even when it’s uncomfortable. When your actions match your values, you’re not just responsible—you’re trustworthy.
- Disciplined: Discipline is the daily follow-through that turns intentions into results. Taking responsibility means doing what needs to be done—even when you don’t feel like it. This week, ask yourself: Am I reacting to life, or am I taking control of what I can?
- Everyone United: Responsibility isn't just individual—it’s collective. We’re all responsible for creating a school where everyone feels safe, supported, and seen. When we hold each other accountable with kindness, we move from “me” to “we.”
In October, Jaguars will focus on Integrity in Real Life: Doing the Right Thing When It's Hard each Monday!

Show that Jaguar P.R.I.D.E!
BC Jaguar PRIDE means that our Jaguars are Prepared, Respectful, have Integrity, are Disciplined, and show that Everyone is united! To ensure a safe, focused, and positive learning environment, we PRIDE expectations with students on Thursday in second period.
- This includes our expectation that students keep their cellphones on silent or off in their backpack so students can properly engage in learning.
- Students should be prepared with a fully charged Chromebook each day and any other items required for class to help with their success.
- It is also critical that students are in class and on time to be present for learning which is critical for their success.
- We also expect our students to be respectful of classrooms, school and personal property each and every day.
Please review our BCHS PRIDE expectations in our Student/Parent Handbook . Taking time to show Jaguar PRIDE is important as we work toward our mission of providing “a safe learning environment with rigorous academic opportunities for all students to graduate as productive, responsible, and contributing citizens!”
