Parents/Guardians,

Amazingly we are almost to the Thanksgiving Break, time flies when you are having fun!

Important information for next week. On Tuesday the 25th, we will be having our Turkey Trot/Walk in the afternoon and a Spirit Competition with each grades sporting a different color. The grade with the highest participation rate will be declared the GBS Highest Spirited. 50% of their clothes must be the color listed below. Here's the color by grades:

Please be sure that your students are ready to be outside, particularly as the weather gets colder. We will be outside for recess unless the temperature (inclusive of wind chill) is below 10 degrees or it is raining. Having the fresh air break in the middle of the day is very helpful for our learners!

As part of our social-emotional support initiatives, we are teaching 7th grade students about mental health, and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend, using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program will be delivered December 2, 3 and 4. It teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help. Through the program, students learn to ACT (Acknowledge, Care and Tell) a trusted adult if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. They will watch video clips, participate in a guided discussion, and complete a brief screening tool. We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, useful resources, and some of the key messages students will learn.
