LEARNING

We aim to make learning purposeful, engaging and accessible for every child. Handwriting is an important whole-school focus, with children developing the correct posture, pencil grip and letter formation before progressing from clear printing to fluent continuous cursive writing. Regular practice helps pupils improve the accuracy, consistency and presentation of their work. For more information please speak with your child's teacher who will be happy to elaborate and share with you expectations for their stage and age.

Our Relationships, Sex Health Education (RSHE) teaching is supported by Jigsaw, an engaging and well-structured scheme that helps children understand relationships, health and wellbeing in an age-appropriate way. Through discussion, reflection and practical activities, pupils develop confidence, resilience, respect for others and the knowledge and skills they need to make positive choices.

We complement Jigsaw with the Christopher Winter Resource, which provides age-appropriate relationships and sex education, and 2BeSafe, which reinforces important messages about online safety:

  • Self-image and identity
  • Online relationships
  • Online reputation
  • Online bullying
  • Health, wellbeing and lifestyle
  • Privacy and security
  • Managing online information
  • Copyright and ownership

The content depends on the age and stage of the children.

For more information, please get in touch with the office. We'd be happy to discuss this with you.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

We are consulting with parents and carers on our draft Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) Policy. The policy explains how we provide clear, sensitive and age-appropriate learning, supported by the Jigsaw scheme, to develop children’s understanding of health, wellbeing and positive relationships. We welcome your views and encourage you to read this draft policy and share any feedback with us.

How can you share your views?

Please send any comments to the school office by Friday 9 October.
