As we approach the final stretch of the school year, it’s time to focus on finishing strong! Whether you’re a senior preparing for graduation or an underclassman wrapping up another year, now is the time to make sure all assignments are submitted, requirements are met, and you’re setting yourself up for success.

Final Exams:

Finals are just around the corner, with seniors and underclassmen following separate schedules. Be sure to check the section below labeled Important Dates for final exam dates and any related updates.

Seniors, make sure all graduation requirements are completed. This includes assignments, community service hours FAFSA, and any other responsibilities tied to your graduation status. If you have questions or concerns, reach out to your school counselor to help and guide you.

Summer School & 2025 -2026 School Year Registration:

Planning ahead? Summer School registration is now open, and we’ve included the details and links below to get you started. In addition, registration for the 2025–2026 school year is now open for both incoming freshmen and returning students. Please see the newsletter links and instructions to complete your registration early.

Let’s make these final weeks a strong finish and a positive experience. Stay focused, ask for help when you need it, and take pride in closing out the year with success!

Proviso West Celebrates National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony

On Thursday, May 1, Proviso West High School proudly welcomed new members into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a formal induction ceremony held in the school’s Little Theater. This annual event recognizes outstanding students in Career & Technical Education programs who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and service.

The evening included a traditional candle lighting ceremony and inspiring speeches from Board of Education President Jenny Barbahen, Superintendent Krish Mohip, and special keynote speaker, Village of Maywood Trustee and proud Proviso alumna, Asia Ousley.

First-year inductees included Fridauz Ibraheem, Mathew Managan, Daniel Moraga, Skylar Owens, Harlow Ramirez, Valentina Rojas, Jayden Tate-Ware, and Maggie Vargas.

Second-year inductees included Mia Adams, Antonio Avila, Leah Bell, Jorge Espinoza, Omar Flores-Chagolla, John Homyak, Alexia Rodela, Agustin Sanchez, Giselle Sanchez, and Nancy Sandoval.

Special thanks go to Ms. April Senase for organizing and hosting the event, and for her continued dedication to supporting her students. Appreciation is also extended to the many staff, administrators, Board members, families, and classmates who attended and helped make the evening so special.

Proviso West Celebra la Ceremonia de Inducción a la Sociedad Nacional de Honor Técnico

El jueves 1 de mayo, Proviso West High School dio la bienvenida a nuevos miembros en la Sociedad Nacional de Honor Técnico (NTHS, por sus siglas en inglés) durante una ceremonia de inducción formal realizada en el Pequeño Teatro de la escuela. Este evento anual reconoce a estudiantes destacados en los programas de Educación Técnica y Profesional por su excelencia académica, liderazgo y servicio.

La velada incluyó una emotiva ceremonia de encendido de velas y discursos inspiradores de la Presidenta de la Junta de Educación, Jenny Barbahen, el Superintendente Krish Mohip, y la oradora principal invitada, la Síndica del Pueblo de Maywood y orgullosa exalumna de Proviso, Asia Ousley.

Los estudiantes de primer año que fueron incorporados incluyeron a Fridauz Ibraheem, Mathew Managan, Daniel Moraga, Skylar Owens, Harlow Ramirez, Valentina Rojas, Jayden Tate-Ware y Maggie Vargas.

Serving up more than just great food! Our Culinary Arts students are learning kitchen safety, food prep skills, and exploring tasty career paths — all while discovering a deeper love for cooking

Here is Proviso West's awesome Astronomy Club using a telescope to view the sun through a solar filter. We were able to see a few sunspots and marvel at the beauty of our Sun!

Superintendent Mohip met with students during the four lunch periods at Proviso West to have open and honest discussions about students’ experiences and their hopes for a stronger, more supportive Proviso West. He listened attentively as students shared concerns and ideas for improvement, creating a space where they felt heard and respected. Dialogues like these not only give students a voice in shaping their school community but also build confidence, leadership, and a sense of responsibility that can impact their future far beyond high school.

Congratulations to our Boys Tennis Team and coaches on your season! Thank you, seniors, for your dedication and for proudly representing Proviso West as student-athletes. Your hard work on and off the court is truly appreciated!

Get ready to stay active and sharpen your skills this summer! Proviso West will host Summer Sports Camps for students looking to train, compete, and have fun.

Camps are scheduled on select dates between June 16 and July 24 and will take place after Summer School, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Students can attend sports camps at either Proviso East or Proviso West depending on availability and sport.

📅 Camp Dates:

• June 16–18 (3 days)

• June 23–26 (4 days)

• June 30 (1 day only)

• July 7–10 (4 days)

• July 14–17 (4 days)

• July 21–24 (4 days)

Note: There is no camp on June 19 due to the holiday.

Whether you’re preparing for the upcoming season or just looking to stay in shape, our camps offer a great opportunity to connect with teammates, coaches, and friends.

¡Prepárate para mantenerte activo y mejorar tus habilidades este verano! P

Proviso West organizará campamentos deportivos de verano para estudiantes que deseen entrenar, competir y divertirse.

Los campamentos se realizarán en fechas seleccionadas entre el 16 de junio y el 24 de julio, después de la Escuela de Verano, de 1:30 p.m. a 4:30 p.m. Los estudiantes pueden asistir a los campamentos en Proviso East o Proviso West, según la disponibilidad y el deporte.

Summer School registration for 2025 is now open! Complete your registration between

April 1 and May 31 to avoid late fees. Summer School will be held at Proviso East and Proviso West High Schools. Credit Recovery will take priority. Sessions will be held Monday–Thursday, from 8 AM – 1 PM.

Once your registration is submitted, the registration fee will be added to your student's PowerSchool account. You will have until May 31 to make the payment online or in person at your school’s main office. After May 31, a late fee will be applied.

• Early Registration: Registration forms submitted by May 31 will incur a $100 fee.

• Late Registration: After May 31, a $125 late fee will be applied.

Students from our feeder schools will race alongside Proviso athletes in a fun day of running, teamwork, and school pride. All participants will get a t-shirt and medal. This event, led by Superintendent Mr. Krish Mohip, helps build strong connections between our schools and supports student growth through fitness and fun.
