A Message from Ms. Chambers
What a wonderful first two days of school! Things are officially in full swing, and it has been such a pleasure to see our campus filled with the energy and excitement of a new school year.
Our students are settling into new classroom routines, learning expectations, exploring their new learning environments, and most importantly, making new connections with classmates and teachers. We are so proud of how our Geckos have embraced this new beginning!
Thank you to our families for your partnership and support as we begin this new adventure together. And a huge thank you to our incredible staff for creating welcoming, caring, and engaging classrooms for our students.
You might notice one small change to our schedule this year, more Friday Flags! We’ll be gathering to celebrate together most Fridays, starting next Friday August 21. Everyone is encouraged to show their Creekside pride by wearing their Creekside shirts to Friday Flag. Be sure to check continue to check the Gecko Gazette or the school calendar for exact dates throughout the year.

Bicycle and Scooter Permission Form
If your student is planning to ride their bike to school and is in grades 3-5, please click here to complete the bike agreement.
Please note that in adherence to the City of San Diego Ordinance Rules, Children under the age of 12 are only authorized to ride traditional pedal bikes.
A reminder to please get in touch with Cristina Holmes (cholmes@powayusd.com), Creekside’s Health Office Technician, if your student(s) has/have a medical condition including allergies (life threatening OR non-life threatening) of any sort – especially if you haven’t already done so! This also includes any injuries that your student(s) may pick up throughout the year.
This just ensures the team at Creekside can support your student(s) in the best way possible.
School Site Council
Taking an active role in your child’s education is one of the most important means of helping your child in school. One of the ways in which you can become actively involved at Creekside Elementary School is to become a member of our School Site Council (SSC).
The SSC at Creekside is a ten-member council responsible for overseeing Creekside’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and Comprehensive Site Safety Plan. As a site council member, you can expect to be involved in the development of the school’s improvement plan, oversight of the plan’s implementation, and assessment of its impact on students.
The SSC is comprised of five staff members and five community members, elected by peers, to serve a two-year term. Presently there are TWO voting positions open for parents on the SSC. Members are expected to attend all meetings. Our first zoom meeting for this school year will be scheduled in September/October.
If you would like to become a member of the SSC, please email Dr. A. Caroline Wright, Assistant Principal, at adwright@powayusd.com by Friday, August 28, 2026, indicating your interest and including a sentence or two about why you wish to serve on the council.
Thank you for your involvement in our school!
