And the Special This Week is...
October 31st ~ The Great Pumpkin is Coming!
The search for the Great Pumpkin is coming to Francestown Elementary School, and the PTO needs your help!
On Wednesday, October 30, please send a pumpkin to school with your child. There will be pumpkins available if you are unable to supply one. They were donated by a local family.
After school on October 30, there will be a pumpkin gutting party. Please consider joining us! The next morning, students will embark on a hunt for the perfect pumpkin to carve. These pumpkins will be used to decorate downtown during trick-or-treating.
The day will end with a festive Halloween Parade, starting at 2:15 p.m., where students will march to the Fire House and back. Families are invited to watch!
Please note:
- Students should bring their costumes to school and will change into them at 2:00 p.m.
- Costumes must be easy to put on over regular clothes, as students need to be able to dress themselves.
- No costumes with horror themes, gore, or weapons.
PRIDE Meeting and Community Lunch
Today, students gathered for our PRIDE Meeting, where they watched the FES PRIDE video! Students spent the past week working with Ms. Lagare to create this special video that brings our Lion PRIDE values—positivity, responsibility, independence, determination, and empathy—to life.
We also enjoyed a fantastic performance by Ms. Parisi's class, who shared their catchy multiplication song. It was a fun and exciting way to learn the 6 times table!
A big thank you to all the families who joined us for Community Lunch. Your support and presence make a difference!

How Many Minutes Will We Read?
Can we do it again?
Last year, we read a total of 4,422 minutes during our month-long celebration of literacy. This year, we’re taking our reading adventure to “Camp Read-a-Lot”! Students are recording their reading minutes both at school and at home. You can track your minutes online on our read-a-thon website or using the paper sent home. I wonder how many more minutes we can read this year!
Minutes Read: 1,090
Bring the Kona Ice Truck and Programming to FES!
Francestown Elementary School has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year!
Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday, October 7, 2024.
About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323831343236/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
Part of our Month of Literacy is to keep track of the number of minutes and books read. Please consider using the reading log sent home or logging minutes online. We announce the total number of minutes read everyday! You do not have to donate to participate!
We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,
Francestown Elementary School

We are Bucket Fillers!
This week we strengthened our math and literacy skills through a fun Halloween escape room. We also have been working extra hard at being bucket fillers and earned ourselves a pajama day. Lastly, we ended our week with a fun activity - "What should our teacher be for Halloween?"!
Ms. Parisi's Third and Fourth Graders!
Flying, Melting, Moving, and Nature's Music
This past week, our class had another visit from Kara with the Harris Center! We got to closely look at hawks and describe what they noticed. For Social Studies we did an experiment using ice cubes to see how glaciers impacted New Hampshire's landscape. There was also a group of students that put together multiple concerts throughout the week in the field at recess time.
