October 24 - Cell Phone Policy Focus Group Discussion
Two times are being offered for the LPMS Cell Phone Policy Focus Group Discussion! Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 AM or Saturday, October 24 at 4:00 PM. You can choose which one works best for you. The discussion is anticipated to take about an hour.
If you have a student who attended LPMS last school year (2025-2026), you are invited to participate in this online focus group discussion for parents around the LPMS cell phone policy in its first year of implementation. The LPMS Dean of Students Mr. Teres is completing an MA in Leadership through UCCS and this focus group is part of his capstone research project.
If you are interested, please complete this consent form and then be on the lookout for an email from steres@uccs.edu with a link for you to select which of these times you would prefer. Feel free to reach out to Mr. Teres (at steres@uccs.edu) if you have any questions about the focus group or this research project. Thank you for your consideration!

Important Enrollment Reminders
Semester-Based Enrollment: Enrollment is per semester and does not automatically carry over. All returning and new students must apply (or re-apply) to be considered for Spring 2027.
Priority & Review: To support students within our program capacity, applications are reviewed based on academic necessity and past online performance. Submitting an application is the first step and does not guarantee placement.
How to Apply
Contact Your Counselor: Notify your school counselor of your interest during the registration window.
Submit the Application: Complete the LPSD Spring 2027 Online Application Link.
Application Deadline: The application window closes promptly at 4:00 PM MDT on Friday, October 30th, 2026. No late applications will be accepted.
Next Steps: Once applications are reviewed, students will be notified of their status. If approved, we will send the formal enrollment form to enroll in online classes. Online Classes through CDLS will begin on January 6, 2027.
Program Expectations: To ensure student success, we continue to emphasize our core standards: maintaining consistent weekly progress (~6% completion per week), practicing academic integrity, and engaging in regular course activity.

Reporting Absences
Please call the appropriate attendance secretary when reporting absences, late arrivals and early releases. If you call an attendance secretary, and the phone rolls over to voicemail, please leave a message (including the reason for the absence) and they will check promptly. Keep in mind they may be on the line with another parent, assisting a student or teacher. Our secretaries work very hard to accommodate requests, so please be patient as they work through the many requests they receive each day.
We respectfully ask if you are requesting an early release for your student. The best practice is to send a note with your student first thing in the morning to receive their pass. Your student may then leave at the time noted on the pass. OR we ask that when you call for an early release that you call at least an hour in advance. A student should not leave school without having their parent or guardian call or email ahead of time.
Students attending a medical appointment can ask the doctor’s office for a note when they leave and that note can be dropped off with the attendance secretary. These types of absences will then be marked as medically excused.
For an extended absence, please have students get a pre-arranged absence form from their attendance secretary.
Please keep this information on-hand and thank you for your cooperation.

From the nurse’s office:
If a student is ill while at school, they MUST report to the school health room. The school nurse/health clerk will then call home if the student is not well enough to stay in school for the remainder of the day. The student should not call or text home to be picked up by a parent or guardian if they have not reported to the health room.
