HOSA State Qualification Testing
HOSA members have been working tirelessly over the last few months to prepare for HOSA State Qualification Testing (SQT), an online, school-based exam serving as a preliminary round for HOSA's competitive events, where top regional scores advance to the State Leadership Conference for a chance at higher-level competition in March.
A number of HOSA competitive events at the State Leadership Conference require a State Qualification Test that is taken between December and January. Students must place in the Top 5 or Top 10 in their region in order to qualify for that event at the State Leadership Conference.

Updated Procedure on Students Arriving Late to School
Over the past semester, we have seen a noticeable increase in late arrivals. To address this concern and to better support students, we are implementing a new procedure for managing late arrivals to school. Beginning January 2026, an unexcused check-in will be counted as an unexcused tardy to school, and students will receive consequences based on their total number of accumulated tardies (both tardy to class and tardy to school combined):
1-10 Tardies – Warning
12th, 14th, 16th Tardy – 1 Day of Reflective Lunch
18th, 20th, 22nd Tardy – 1 Hour After School Enrichment
24th Tardy – 1 Day In-School Suspension
26th+ Tardy – Administrator Discretion / Loss of Student Parking Privileges
Tardy to School Procedure (formally known as Check-in and Review/CIR)
Students arriving after the 7:15 a.m. tardy bell must enter through the main building entrance to go through the Evolv security system. Students will receive a tardy slip, which is required for admission to class.
Excused Check-Ins
We understand that students may occasionally arrive late to school for excused reasons, such as a morning doctor’s appointment. To be considered for an excused check-in, the student must check in with a parent present or provide official documentation upon arrival, which may include—but is not limited to—medical or legal documentation. For a complete list of approved reasons, please refer to the school or district website. Students arriving late without proper documentation or a parent will receive an unexcused tardy.
Note: Parents/Guardians will continue to submit absence notes for full day absences only via ParentVue.
Attendance Office Reminders
Excuse Note Reminders
Parents, we appreciate your patience as the county shifts how excuse notes are turned in this year. We have just a few quick tips to make this process continue to be successful.
You must fill in one of the two sections:
- Add a doctor's note or document
- Write in your excuse in the "Note" box.
- Excuse notes can't be reported until 24 hours after the absence.
Student Check-ins/Checkouts:
Students arriving late must enter through the main front entrance. They should check in using the tablets and go directly to class.
All checkouts* must happen before 1:30 PM. No exceptions. This allows us to prepare for dismissal, thank you for your support.
If you know ahead of time your student needs to leave early, you may do the following:
Send a written note with student in the morning. Note must be received by the Attendance Office before 7:15 AM.
The note must include: Student’s first and last name, date and time of checkout, and parent phone number.
The attendance clerk will provide a pass to the student to leave at the designated time without the parent needing to come inside. The students can then checkout at the Attendance Office and meet their parents/guardian outside at the time listed.
Attendance clerks will verify all notes before releasing students. If they cannot reach a parent, the student will not be allowed to check out.
We encourage families to regularly check student attendance in ParentVue.
*Please remember, there are no checkouts during testing blocks
2nd Semester Schedules
Student schedules will be made available to parents and students in ParentVUE and StudentVUE starting on January 2nd in preparation for the beginning of semester 2.
However, please understand that schedule changes are being made up until the first day of 2nd semester, January 5th, due to course failures and class leveling.
Some student schedules may shift due to the balancing of class sizes as well as faculty/staff changes. We guarantee students will have a total of six classes and an advisement, but we cannot guarantee that that the classes will be in the same period order or with the same teacher as first semester or that students will have the same lunch period.
Schedule Changes
The only changes being made to second semester schedules are for those students who have failed a class and cannot move to the 2nd semester course or for seniors who need a class to meet graduation requirements. Most of these changes have already been made. Schedule changes will NOT be made for the following reasons:
· Teacher or class period preference
· The student doesn’t like the elective and wants a different elective
· Level changes (AP to Honors, Honors to CP) because current level is impacting GPA
· GPA concerns
· The class is not needed for graduation
Students were advised during the registration process last Spring to choose wisely as their choices were yearlong choices and changes would not be made between semesters.
