Volume 4/Issue 36 - May 4th, 2025

May the 4th be with you! "Obstacles are merely tests of your resolve. Embrace the challenge, trust in the Force within, and may the 4th guide you to success." - Unknown

As we hit the last two weeks, there are going to be many obstacles or distractions that will try to take you off your path. It is important to recognize, reset, and get back on track. We have done amazing things this year as I have continued to say and we need to finish even better. This week is about Service and how we will continue to thrive moving forward into the summer. Be there for each other and be the one that gives another person the light needed to smile.

✨Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)✨

Congratulations goes to our own Becky Schueth who has been named a State Finalist for this award!

This is the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching. Awards are given to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers who have both deep content knowledge of the subjects they teach and the ability to motivate and enable students to be successful in those areas.

Mrs. Schueth is currently teaching high school mathematics here at SRC. This is her 11th year at S-RC and I teach Geometry, Technical Math, College Algebra, PreCalculus and Calculus. Becky has 20 years of experience in teaching and she began her career at Columbus High School. Mrs. Schueth Bachelor’s (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees are from Wayne State College. She enjoys sharing her excitement for math with her students each day!

When you see her, please make sure you congratulate her on this incredible achievement! We are all proud and rooting for you!

Message for the Week: Message for the Week:

    Message from Mr. Tejkl

    Use the force...

    Good morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed all the sunshine! We are down to the final two weeks for students but we are down to the final week before our Class of 2025 becomes SRC Alumni! I am excited for them but I also am not looking forward to saying "see you later". I understand this is part of the process and our school cycle but as I reflect, my mind drifts to the many questions: Have we prepared them? Are they Ready? What more can we do? How do we continue to support? Did they enjoy school? What life lessons have we prepared them for? What more can we do?

SHHHH...we have done what we have done. Quiet your minds and know that we have continued to push them to be their best. I also appreciate the lessons that our Class of 2025 have given to our students and staff throughout their journey!

The wise Yoda, especially on this special day of May the 4th, will never get old! If you haven't watched Star Wars (and I swear, if you say this is Star Trek, I may force choke you), then you have a lot of homework to do! I digress and I dig in: Even with the strongest intention to "do" kindness, we might stumble. You might say the wrong thing or misread someone's needs. However, the "do or do not" principle encourages you to learn from these experiences without falling back on the excuse of "I tried." Instead, you acknowledge the misstep, learn from it, and recommit to doing better in the future. It's about progress, not perfection. Whether it is spreading kindness, putting in work, or going for your goals...never just "try", Do It!

With that being said, applying "do or do not, there is no try" to kindness/work means embracing it as an active and unwavering commitment rather than a passive attitude. It's about embodying kindness/work ethic in your actions and striving to make it a fundamental aspect of your character. May the Force be with you on your journey!

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Quote of the week to reflect on:

""Do or Do Not. There is No Try."

    Yoda

    Sincerely,

    Tucker Tejkl
