Title I, Part C - Education of Migratory Children

The purpose of the Marshall County Migrant Program is to ensure that children of migrant workers have access to the same free, appropriate public education (FAPE), including public preschool education, provided to other children. To achieve this purpose, the Marshall County Migrant Education Program works with migrant families to overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory life in order to succeed in school and to successfully transition to post-secondary education or employment.

Funds provided under Title I, Part C will supplement other funding sources to be used for the education of migratory children and their families.

Identification of Migrant students and families is accomplished through employment surveys, interviews, and home visits.

Mission Statement

The Marshall County School System will provide opportunities and resources to enable all migrant students to meet the challenging Alabama State academic standards.

The State does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religious preference, marital status, disability, national origin, or any other reason prohibited by state or federal law. Employees of the District are required to comply with the provisions of the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the 1972 Educational Amendments.

Alabama School Boards are required by state law to verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees by using the Federal E-Verify program. New employees are required to provide a Social Security number, an unexpired identity document that contains a photograph, and other acceptable documents that establish employment eligibility. In addition to determining whether the new hire is authorized to work in the United States, E-Verify will confirm that the employee's name and Social Security number match.
