Dear Main Street Families,

I hope this message finds you well!

Veteran’s Day – Tuesday, November 11th
School will be in session for all students on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11th. We honor and thank all those who have served our country!

📚 Main Street’s First Literacy Night!
We are excited to host our first-ever Literacy Night on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
Join us for a fun-filled evening of movie-themed reading and writing activities for students and families!
Come enjoy engaging stations, storytelling, and creative challenges that bring reading to life. We look forward to seeing you there!

📅 Attendance Matters!
Our attendance rate has slipped a bit from last week — currently, 73% of students are attending school 90% or more of the time (down from 78%). Our goal is 90%!

Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s academic success. Students who attend school every day are more likely to stay on track, build strong learning habits, and perform better in reading and math.

Here’s how you can help:
✅ Make sure your child arrives on time each morning.
✅ Avoid early dismissals whenever possible.
✅ Schedule appointments after school hours when you can.
✅ Remember — every minute of instruction counts!

🥫 Canned Food Drive
Our Canned Food Drive is in full swing and runs until Thursday, November 21st! The House that collects the most canned goods will earn a special celebration. Thank you for helping us support families in need during this season of giving.

🧮 District Common Assessments
Students in grades 2–5 have been working hard to complete the district’s common assessments. We are proud of their focus and effort — way to go, Tigers!

💛 World Kindness Day – Thursday, November 13th
This Thursday, we will celebrate World Kindness Day! Students will participate in activities that spread awareness and practice kindness intentionally — on this day and every day.

Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students grow, learn, and thrive!

Warm regards,
Ms. Darnell Medley
Principal, Main Street Elementary School

Proud to serve our amazing school community!

Chromebooks or other technological devices are used in class for students to complete assignments and assessments.. Students may not download games, wallpapers or participate in video group discussions. Improper use of technology could result in the student losing privileges of using the school's device.

A Visit from Officer Claire!

A big thank you to Officer Claire from the Upland Borough Police Department for taking time out of your busy day to read to our scholars, answer their questions, and give them a special look inside your patrol car! Our students loved learning from you and seeing firsthand the important work you do in our community. 🚓📚💛

Parents:

Please refrain from making u turns in the car line during dismissal. The safety of our children and parents is of utmost importance to us. We would like to move the cars through the line without any disruptions.
