Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
May 26, 2023
This was a PACKED week at Lutherville Lab!
Saturday we held our first Fun Run for Special Education resources and all attendees had a blast! The run was a huge success and we are especially grateful to PTA Secretary Andrew Leanna for his time and energy in organizing the run. Our weekend runs continued on Sunday when teh Lutherville Lappers culminated their spring season with a 5k at Goucher College. Congratulations Lappers and Mr. Bruns!
This school week was highlighted by fantastic spring concert performances from our 5th grade band, chorus, steel drum band, and orchestra! The students performed for the schoolmates on Monday and Tuesday and families on Tuesday evening. We are so proud of the hard work and performances students produced and the partnership of our families to support their growth. A huge "thank you!" to Mrs. Tunison and Mrs. Vincent for their teaching.
And today was Sports Day for Grades 3-5. We could not have asked for better weather, better volunteers, or better students! We had a fantastics day and were so impressed with our students collaboration and sportsmanship all day long. The talk of the staff Friday afternoon was all about how proud we are of our Leopards! Thank you to Mr. Bruns for all the work to organize the day and prepare our Leopards to succeed!
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb

Seeking Parent Ambassadors
In an effort to increase a sense of welcome and belonging for families new to the Lutherville Lab community, we are seeking parents who can serve as a resource to families new to our school. As a Lutherville parent, you could be very helpful in welcoming new families to the school community and providing insight about navigating the school year. New families could benefit from hearing about your experiences with the school transportation system, PTA-sponsored events like Food Truck Night, school field trips, before- and after-school clubs, special education, snow days, childcare arrangements at the school, and the many other connections you may have to Lutherville Lab.
Parent Ambassadors would volunteer to have their contact information (email and cell number) shared with new families based on criteria set forth by the ambassador. For instance, a parent might share that they would like to be an ambassador for new families that live in Orchard Hills and/or have a child with a disability; another parent that they live at The Hills at Kenilworth and/or have a common Japanese cultural connection; another parent that they live outside of Lutherville and their child accesses supports in the SEL program; another parent that they live in Historic Lutherville and/or have a common Hispanic cultural connection.
This information would be retained in a database only for office staff to access. When families register their children, Lutherville Lab office staff (Mrs. McDevitt and Mr. Planter) can offer the connection opportunity and contact information based on the new family’s registration information.
If you are interested in being a parent ambassador, please complete the Parent Ambassador Interest Form
