Lynch's Lines...

HC Team,

As we all know, this time of year is BUSY! So many activities/events in and out of school. We cannot stop teaching though... we still need to stay focused and stay with consistent schedules as much as possible. I so appreciate the work you all do each day... from baby bunnies to no bus for a field trip... each day brings new surprises - good and bad!!! HAHA!!! Hang in there! We got this!

No Place For Hate Writing Contest

To celebrate our submission and upcoming designation as a "No Place For Hate" School, Student Council is sponsoring a writing contest. Students in grades K-2 can write at least a sentence and draw a picture to match, while students in grades 3-6 can write at least one paragraph up to a 5-paragraph essay to answer the question, "What makes Hale Cook a "No Place For Hate" school?" (See the attached sheet that we will provide to all students.)

This contest is OPTIONAL for all students, but if they enter, they are eligible to win $25, $10, or $5 gift cards as a prize. Please review the writing contest information in your mailboxes to see other rules and how scoring will be done by Student Council. The submission deadline is May 10 to the office or to you and you can return the forms to the Student Council mailbox.

If you would like to give students the chance to develop their ideas and do this writing in class, you are welcome to, and we encourage it! If you do this, you may not want to send the paper home in Monday folders or make a copy to use in class. (the forms will be ready to go home on Monday 15) Because it is Student Council sponsored, the class and grade-level representatives will be unable to win but should still participate in writing if it is a class assignment.

If you have any questions, please talk to Lauren after reviewing the handout - see below.

We are in this together! I know it is going to be a SWEET year!

Julie
