CELEBRATING CENTENNIAL!
BWTV Interviews Dr. Lucabaugh!
Students in William Tennent’s Advanced Media Production class had the exciting opportunity to sit down with Centennial School District’s new superintendent, Dr. Lucabaugh, for an on-camera interview featured on BWTV. (Watch here)
During the conversation, Dr. Lucabaugh shared his vision for the district, reflecting on his career in education and highlighting his commitment to putting students first. He spoke about the importance of open communication, collaboration with families and staff, and ensuring that every student feels supported and connected to their school community.
The interview also gave students valuable hands-on experience in professional media production. They researched and prepared their own questions, managed the technical setup, and conducted the interview with poise. Dr. Lucabaugh praised their preparation and curiosity, noting how proud he was to see students leading such a meaningful conversation.
“This project not only introduced the new superintendent to the school community but also showcased the creativity and professionalism of Tennent’s media students. Through experiences like this, our students are learning lifelong skills in communication, collaboration, and media production that will serve them well beyond the classroom. We are grateful to Dr. Lucabaugh for such a thoughtful conversation.” – Mrs. Dina McCaffery, Advanced Media Production Teacher.

ACADEMICS
Dear, K-5 Centennial Families
Dear K-5 Centennial Families,
Welcome to the new school year! This year, your student will continue to study a Reading English Language Arts curriculum called Wit & Wisdom.
Wit & Wisdom is designed to challenge students positively and productively, to build their knowledge of the world around them, and to hone the skills they need to be strong readers, critical thinkers, skilled writers, and excellent communicators. Through the study of fiction and nonfiction texts, famous works of art, videos, photographs, and more, students engage deeply with rich, meaningful content.
To support your student’s Reading English Language Arts learning, the Office of Teaching & Learning would like to provide Family Tip Sheets that correspond with each grade, Kindergarten through 5th. These can be accessed through the links below and will give you an overview of what your student is studying as well as offer suggestions for how to enrich these studies outside of the classroom.
Modules 1, 2, 3 only
Modules 1, 2, 4 only

We also want to emphasize that regular reading outside of class is an essential component of an effective middle school English program, as it prevents students from falling behind or being unprepared for class discussions that deepen comprehension and build knowledge for written text analysis. Your support and encouragement of reading outside of class will positively impact your child’s academic growth and overall development as a lifelong reader.
Additional Wit & Wisdom resources can be accessed through the CSD Secondary Curriculum webpage in the SECONDARY ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS & LITERACY INSTRUCTION section. The Wit & Wisdom | Curriculum Overview for Families link provides access to a Parent and Family Portal. Please reach out to your child’s English teacher with any questions.
Respectfully,
Joseph Rutz
Director of Teaching & Learning
