24/25 STEELS Item Sampler Release!

Linked below are item samplers aligned with the STEELS standards. There are a mix of Science and Tech & Eng questions on the PSSA samplers. If you scroll to the end of each document, you will see a list of standards addressed and the DOK levels of each question. I noticed many DOK 2 and 3 style questions. The following blurb is from PDE.

"There have been many requests for sample questions aligned with the STEELS Standards, and these documents are intended to address the requests. These documents will help give guidance for the new exams based on the STEELS Standards. The Biology Item Sampler was written to give a sense as to questions based on the STEELS Standards. Please note: The Biology Keystone will be aligned to the 2010 Keystone Biology Standards through the winter wave of 2025-2026. The Biology Keystone Exam based on the STEELS Standards will be administered in the spring of 2026."

Volunteer for a PSSA and Keystone Exam Committee

PDE conducts various meetings in support of PSSAs, Keystone Exams, and CDT. The attendees for these meetings are Pennsylvania educators. Pennsylvania educators have been involved in the development of the PSSAs, Keystone Exams and CDT since their inception. PDE relies on educators to review items for alignment with the assessment anchor content standards, level of difficulty, bias, clarity, grade appropriateness, and a host of other indicators. If you are interested in serving on a review committee you must submit an application.
