A Message from Ms. Osmerg
Our Kids Heart Challenge is off to a great start! We are currently at 55% of our $4000 goal. Don't forget if 50% of our students simply register for the Kids Heart Challenge, Coach Andrews and I will get silly-stringed!! I know the students would LOVE to be able to do that!
Also, please take 3 minutes to fill out this schoolwide communication survey, as I am seeking input on how the school can best communicate with parents. Please click here to fill out the survey. Additionally, there is another survey that we need all parents to take 5-10 minutes to fill out. See information below!
Thank you,
Jill Osmerg
School Climate Survey - IMPORTANT! Only takes 5-10 Minutes! We need your input!
GA DOE School Climate Survey for Students and Parents
We value your feedback! Fulton County Schools wants to hear from you through the Georgia Department of Education School Climate Survey. The Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE) requires all public schools to participate in this annual survey. To see the GA DOE informational website and sample surveys, please click here. There are four different surveys this year: one for parents, one for students in grades 3 -5, one for teachers, and one for staff. Each school is aiming to have a minimum 70% participation rate for each survey. Schools failing to meet the medium participation rate could have their school’s climate star rating automatically reduced by one star.
Key points:
• This survey gives individuals the chance to share their thoughts on our school. Your voice matters!
• The survey will be available from February 3-March 31.
• The survey is anonymous and confidential.
• The survey is available in both English and Spanish.
To take the Parent Survey for Abbotts Hill, please click on the following link.

At Abbotts Hill, students in grades 3-5 will participate in this survey the week of March 17. The survey is approximately 27 questions and should take about 10 minutes to complete. The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), 20 U.S.C. § 1232(c)(1)(A) gives parents the right to review a copy of the student survey questions. You may review the survey questions at this link. Additionally, you may request that the school provide a copy of the survey questions for your review. The PPRA also gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please email our assistant principal, Melissa Musto, at mustom@fultonschools.org, prior to Friday, March 14, requesting that your student not participate in the Georgia School Climate Survey.
Your input helps us make improvements, and we truly appreciate your time and feedback!

School Governance Council Declarations
It is time for our School Governance Council (SGC) election process!
What is a School Governance Council?
The purpose of a School Governance Council (SGC) is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role through monitoring and implementation of the strategic plan. They are also tasked with overseeing local governance, promoting innovative solutions, managing flexibility requests, overseeing Charter System funds, evaluating budget recommendations, and participating in principal hiring in case of vacancies
What is the commitment?
All School Governance Council members serve two-year terms. Time commitment varies from school-to-school but expect 2-4 hours per month which includes meetings, trainings, and school and community events.
When are the 2025 elections?
Candidate Declaration: February 3 – March 28

As a reminder, the candidate declaration phase is now open and will end Friday, March 28th at 5pm. Candidates who wish to run for election should visit our charter system website, http://www.fultonschools.org/our-district/charter-system/

PTA News
We’re off to an amazing start this semester! Thanks to the generous funds raised during our Fall FunRun, we've been able to add recess buckets to every classroom! Each bucket is filled with fun and active toys like soccer balls, basketballs, jump ropes, chalk, playground balls, and much more. Our students are already enjoying these new additions to their recess time, and we couldn’t be happier to see everyone outside, active, and having fun!
Our annual Sweetheart Dance was a huge success this year! It was a night to remember with a delicious Italian dinner from Luciani's, a fun-filled photo booth, and, of course, lots of dancing! We're so excited to have brought back International Night this year! A huge thank you to all the families who hosted booths, representing their countries and sharing unique traditions, food, and culture. It was a beautiful celebration of diversity and a great way for our students and families to learn about the world beyond our school.
Reflections:
We would like to thank and congratulate the students who participated in our Annual Reflections Art program! The Reflections program is a national arts program that is put on by the National PTA with over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 participating each year. The student-created theme for the 2024-2025 school year is "Accepting Imperfection." Abbotts Hill had 9 students submit 14 different pieces in various categories, such as visual arts and music composition. The 14 pieces were anonymously judged at the school level and the top 2 in each category were submitted to the District level for judging. We thank the students for sharing their artwork with the school community.
