Letter from our Principal, Anna Davis Letter from our Principal, Anna Davis

Dear Lewis Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you all had an opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved ones over the summer. My name is Anna Davis, and I am honored and thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Lewis Elementary.

This milestone is particularly meaningful to me because Lewis has long held a special place in my heart. Having served as a teacher here from 2006 to 2013, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to return to this wonderful community and serve you all in a new capacity. Beyond my professional journey in Portland Public Schools, I am also a proud PPS parent myself, with a 5th grader at Richmond and an 8th grader at Mt. Tabor. Experiencing our district through both an educator's and a parent's lens reinforces my commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn every single day.

Over the coming weeks, my top priority is to listen, learn, and reconnect with the heart of our school community. You will see me outside during morning drop-off, visiting classrooms, and attending community events.

Please keep an eye out for our weekly digital newsletter, Lewis Elementary News, which will arrive in your inbox every Wednesday with schoolwide news, event updates, and student highlights.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children’s education and well-being. Together, we are going to make this an extraordinary school year filled with growth, curiosity, and community spirit.

Warmly,

Anna Davis

If you speak another language at home other than English, please be sure to note that in your student's file so we can assess them for additional services. If they qualify for English Language Development (ELD) services, then they could receive additional reading and writing support from our specialists during the school day. Services are provided during our 1st-5th grade daily intervention block and/or directly within your child's English Language Arts block so they never miss core instruction with their class.

ELD is not a part of Special Education. To learn more about ELD in PPS, click here.
