Because of changes to the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service, access to YouTube on student accounts will change at the end of this month. Staff members will still have access to YouTube and will be able to embed YouTube videos in Canvas for their students. It is recommend you embed YouTube videos by using Canvas Studio. When you do this, you also have the option to add annotations and quiz questions, making videos more interactive.

How do I add a YouTube video to my Canvas Studio?

1. Click on the Studio icon in the Global Navigation menu on the left side of your Dashboard in Canvas.
2. Click on Create.
3. Select Add Media.
4. Copy the URL from YouTube.
5. Paste the URL from YouTube.
6. Click on Add Video.
7. The video is now listed in your Studio and the link can be shared to your students.
8. At this point, you can also choose to add questions and annotations and then create an assignment with your video.
