Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you to all families who attended our Main Street Black History Programs. Your presence and partnership truly make a difference in strengthening our school community.

It’s hard to believe today is the last day of February! As we move forward, I want to emphasize the importance of completing i-Ready assignments with intentionality. Many students are meeting their weekly goal of at least 60 minutes in both reading and math; however, some are not maintaining an accuracy rate of 80% or higher. Additionally, some students have started multiple lessons without completing them.

Please encourage your child to stay focused and finish each lesson before beginning another.

Remember, lessons can also be completed at home on their electronic devices. Consistent effort and strong accuracy lead to meaningful academic growth.

📚 Read Across America Spirit Week – Dress Down Days!
Our Read Across America Spirit Dress Down Week begins on Monday! We are excited to celebrate the joy of reading with fun, themed dress-down days. Please see the flyer below for full details and daily themes. We look forward to seeing our students participate and show their school spirit!

📵 Policy Reminder – Cell Phones
Please remember that cell phones should remain off and stored away during the school day unless otherwise directed by a staff member. This helps minimize distractions and keeps students focused on learning.

📈 Attendance Matters!

Our yearly goal for average attendance is 90%. Due to recent illnesses and inclement weather, our attendance rate decreased to 63% last week. Let’s keep moving upward — we can do it!

Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s academic success. Students who attend school daily are more likely to stay on track, build strong learning habits, and make meaningful growth in reading and math.

How you can help:

✅ Ensure your child arrives at school on time each morning
✅ Avoid early dismissals whenever possible
✅ Schedule appointments after school hours when possible
✅ Remember — every minute of instruction counts!

Let’s work together to reach our attendance goal and continue building a strong school community.

Thank you for your continued support of Main Street Elementary School.

Warm regards,
Ms. D. Medley
Principal, Main Street Elementary School

Proud to serve our amazing school community! 💛

🎤 Celebrating Excellence: Main Street’s Annual Black History Program

Main Street students participated in our annual Black History Program, celebrating the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans throughout our nation’s history. Students shared powerful performances including spoken word poetry, musical selections, historical reenactments, and inspiring presentations highlighting influential leaders.

Our scholars honored trailblazers such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Thurgood Marshall, and Maya Angelou, reminding us of the courage, resilience, and excellence that continue to shape our world today.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their confidence, preparation, and commitment to honoring Black history. Thank you to our teachers, staff, families, and community members who supported this meaningful event and helped make it a success.

Parents:

Please refrain from making u turns in the car line during dismissal. The safety of our children and parents is of utmost importance to us. We would like to move the cars through the line without any disruptions.
