Trunk or Treat & Dance
From the Desk of Mrs. Stariha
Cooper Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out to our Trunk or Treat! It was so much fun to see all the great costumes!!
The cooler weather is on its way. This means the beautiful color palette of our surroundings will slowly become adorned by a glistening white wonderland. We will make it a priority to get our students outdoors for recess each day. Please prepare your student with weather appropriate attire. This includes layers for both an indoor and outdoor school day and gear to play outside comfortably. Your student will need a winter jacket, snow pants, warm mittens, a hat, boots and an extra pair of socks. Label your child's items in the event they end up in our Lost and Found. This will assist our school team in getting the items back to the student. Our Lost and Found area has filled up. If your child is missing something, contact your child's teacher or our office.

Attitude of Gratitude
The month of November we will be focusing on the importance of gratitude. According to Harvard Health, "gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships." There are many ways to practice gratitude - writing thank you notes, saying thank you, counting your blessings, writing in a gratitude journal, and meditating.
The Raising Grateful Children Project at UNC Chapel Hill has revealed that gratitude has four key parts:
- Noticing: Recognizing the things you have to be grateful for.
- Thinking: Thinking about why you’ve been given those things.
- Feeling: The emotions you experience due to the things you’ve been given.
- Doing: The way you express appreciation.
- Notice: What do you have in your life to be grateful for? Are there things to be grateful for beyond the actual gifts someone has given you? Are you grateful for any people in your life?
- Think: What do you think about this present? Do you think you should give something to the person who gave it to you? Do you think the person gave you a gift because they thought they had to or because they wanted to?
- Feel: Does it make you feel happy to get this gift? What does it feel like inside? What about this gift makes you feel happy?
- Do: Is there a way to show how you feel about this gift? Does your feeling about this gift make you want to share this feeling by giving to someone else?
