Barrington 220 summer school to be held virtually

The coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately canceled many upcoming plans. In Barrington 220 all summer athletic camps and activities are canceled. However, in an effort to continue providing learning opportunities for our students, summer school courses will be offered virtually for the summer of 2020. We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities to continue learning over the summer, especially given the unique conclusion to this school year.

All online summer school programs will still be held as scheduled Monday-Thursday over the following dates:

  • Elementary: June 8-July 2

  • Elementary 220BOSS: Session I, June 8-July 2 and Session II, July 13-August 6

  • Jump Start I/ Dual Language Summer School at Sunny Hill: June 8-June 25

  • Jump Start II at Sunny Hill: June 29-July 16

  • Middle: June 8-July 2

  • High School: Dates will vary, please see the website (link below).

  • ESY: June 8-July 2 (all levels)

Please note, due to the shift to online summer school, some previously offered courses are no longer available. All students who previously enrolled in courses that are no longer being offered in the virtual format will receive full refunds within 30 days, to the credit card that was used during registration. If you’re interested in a course that is still being offered, you must register for it. You can not use the money from a canceled course as a credit toward registration of a new course.

Distance learning student survey

Earlier this week children in grades 4-12 received a survey about their experiences related to our Distance Learning Plan during the state's Remote Learning Days. Please encourage them to check their inboxes and complete the survey so that we can continue to enhance our practices in this format.

Picking up personal belongings left at school

Due to the sudden closure of school this year, we know many students left behind personal belongings in all our school buildings. If you have not yet received a communication, principals will be sending out a detailed plan in the near future about how families can pick up those belongings.

Rotary helps D220 put emergency backpacks in all classrooms

All Barrington 220 classrooms will have backpacks equipped with critical emergency supplies, thanks to the Barrington rotary clubs. The Barrington Area Community Foundation (BACF) recently awarded the Barrington Breakfast Rotary and Barrington Noon Rotary with a grant for $23,000. This grant money will help Barrington 220 purchase the emergency backpacks, as well as additional Stop the Bleed kits, which will be placed in every backpack.
