Principal Patten's Newsletter
April 16, 2026
Dear Onahan Community,
This has been a week, and it sounds like many families were flooded from the torrential rains. May our homes all dry out! Let's start enjoying Spring!
Speaking of so much rain, thank you to parents who attended the first CPS Capital Meeting (to advocate for our new field), and if you plan to go to upcoming ones. (See below) At these meetings, parents have not been able to "talk". For this reason, it is important to fill out the Capital Survey. We want the data to show that the field is not safe. One more injury is too many. Capital Planning Survey

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) will host five meetings in April to engage communities on capital priorities as the District works to develop its Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Plan. The capital plan is a part of the District’s overall budget that will be presented to the Board of Education later this summer. The meetings — which will be led by the CPS Capital Department, Office of Equity, and Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) — are intended to provide communities with an understanding of the District’s capital planning process and help the District prioritize critical capital needs. Participants for any of the meetings listed below should register here or tune in to the live-stream on CPS’ YouTube Channel. The Capital Planning Survey will be available until April 30th.
