Hi Grassy Creek Families!

What a great quarter it has been! The students are growing academically, and we are enjoying the opportunity to be with them daily.

This week we completed our first ILEARN checkpoint testing in grades 3-5 which helps to give us a clearer picture of our students' strengths and areas for opportunities. Results will be shared with families once we can generate reports through the reporting system. We are thankful to all families who are participating in parent-teacher conferences this week. We value the positive partnerships we have with our families.

Many students have enjoyed Warrior Way experiences this past month. It is great to see so many students earning positive rewards and experiences for being responsible, respectful, and safe!

For the safety of students and staff, we ask that students do not bring glass water bottles to school. Glass bottles can easily break and pose a risk of injury.

Our fall break is October 4th-19th, 2025. We hope you have a wonderful break and make many happy memories. School resumes on Monday, October 20.

Picture retakes will be on October 23rd for any students who were absent on the original picture day or for those wanting a retake.

REMINDER: This Friday, October 3rd, all schools will be released TWO HOURS EARLY! WCHS dismisses at 12:50 p.m., CPMS dismisses at 12:40 p.m., and Elementary Schools dismiss at 1:55 p.m. After Dismissal on Friday, CPCSC will be on Fall Break until students return on Monday, October 20th.

• Due to limited space, we will host lunch visitors on Fridays only

• Preregister for your visit using this LINK.

• Enter through and check in at the front office. Be sure to bring an ID for scanning in. We will keep IDs while you are in the building.

• All visitors will eat in the LGI (large group instruction) room.

• Parents may only eat with their children, not their children’s friends/classmates.

• Your non-school aged children may attend if applicable; please do not bring family friends or non-immediate family relatives. These guests should be seated at the lunch table.

• Please refrain from bringing fast-food/restaurant food for yourself and your student. If you are bringing their lunch, it should mimic a “traditional” sack lunch. They can also eat the lunch provided by the cafeteria while you enjoy a sack lunch.

• If you purchase an adult lunch from our cafeteria, please pay with cash ($4.60/ meal). Only adults purchasing a meal will need to go through the line. Otherwise, they should wait in the LGI for their child to join them.

• Please stay in the area set up in the LGI for lunch visitors.

• There are adult restrooms directly across from the cafeteria. Please use them instead of student restrooms. Students should use the student restrooms.

• Once the lunch period is over, please check-out at the office and retrieve your ID before leaving the school. Visitors may not go outside for recess with students.

• Lunch monitors are present to facilitate appropriate eating and behavior. Please refrain from redirecting students that are not yours.

• Do not take pictures of staff or students during your lunch visit. Cell phone use is discouraged.

• Please be mindful that we have limited capacity to host visitors, and that we may experience high demand.

We still need required documents for some of our student files. We are required to have on file for all students a Birth Certificate, Immunization Record, Home Language Survey and a Proof of Residency document. Proof of Residency can be a mortgage or lease statement or a utility bill (gas, electric, sewer, or trash) If you receive a request for these documents from the office or your classroom teacher, please turn those into the main office as soon as possible. We appreciate your help in keeping our records current and up to date!

As a reminder, students may apply for meal assistance at any point in the school year. Approved students will always be free now (as we have changed the reduced meal price to $0 effective 1/1/24).

1. Here Comes the Bus is a free product made available to families through Synovia Solutions. Synovia is the GPS tracking system used by our district to monitor bus locations and vehicle diagnostics.

2. Download it in your Google Play or App store.

1. In order to ensure that your student is transported to an alternate address or child care provider, we request that you submit the following information identified below and allow 3-5 business days from the first day of school for processing. A transportation department team member will contact you with status information. Note, our ability to accommodate will be contingent on space available and bus capacity. First priority will be given to students who are being transported to/from their home address.

To improve traffic flow during arrival and dismissal at GCES, we would like families of GCES students to enter school grounds off of Worthsville Road onto Palmore Way (first entrance to CPMS.) Then take your first left before the tennis courts (turn left/west). Continue on the access road to the end of the sidewalk on the north side adjacent to door 8.. Staff members will walk out door 8 to welcome students into the building at 8:50. We will no longer use the front of the building for drop off. Cars should continue on straight to exit the lot.

Clark-Pleasant Early Learning Center is a part of GCES, and their arrival time is 8:45. These families will enter off Sheek Road and line up for drop off in the front of the building,

If students arrive after 9:05 a.m., an adult will need to park and sign their student in at the front office.

Car rider families should enter the same way for afternoon car rider pick up, but stop at the corner that leads to the front drive. A staff member will come out at approximately 3:50 to dismiss students. Students will exit out of door 4. Cars should pull up to the flag pole once dismissal begins.

If your student goes to childcare after school that is not within our GCES boundary, you must register your child for a car rider number as these daycare locations pick up our students in our car rider line. Please stop by the front office to register your child.

If your student attends a daycare that is within our GCES boundary, you will need to complete an "alternate bus stop" form in order for your child to be dropped off at the correct stop. You can access that form here or contact our transportation office at 317-535-7255.
