In Journalism at Cypress Creek High School, the possibilities are truly endless. For the first time ever, The Howler yearbook was featured in Walsworth’s Possibilities Volume 11 for its 9th edition titled “Until It.”

As Walsworth describes the purpose of Possibilities: “Great yearbooks don’t happen by accident. They begin with a spark, a direction and a team ready to make something unforgettable. This volume of Possibilities is packed with inspiration to help you do exactly that.”

Volume 11 is currently being sent to and used as an example by thousands of yearbook programs across the nation, placing The Howler among publications that set the standard for excellence in student journalism.

The recognition arrived by mail and was unboxed during yearbook class, where Editor‑in‑Chief Rafer proudly read the announcement aloud to staff—marking a milestone moment for the program. This honor celebrates the creativity, leadership, and dedication of Cypress Creek High School’s student journalists and highlights the impact of their work on a national stage.

This week our Spanish classes participated in the Spanish Restaurant Simulator, where students fully engaged in an immersive, real-world experience. Students took on roles as customers and restaurant staff, using target-language vocabulary and structures to order food, ask questions, and interact appropriately in Spanish.

Students were highly motivated, had a great time, and—most importantly—applied what they are learning in a meaningful way. This activity focused on proficiency and survival language, giving students the confidence to communicate in a real-life situation. After today, we can confidently say students won’t go hungry—they now know how to survive in a Spanish-speaking restaurant!

Cypress Creek participated in the Pasco County Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) on Wednesday, joining local law enforcement officers for a day of community connection and inclusion. Participants ran together and took part in community games side by side with officers, creating meaningful opportunities to build relationships and learn from one another.

Throughout the event, participants explored various aspects of law enforcement, including K9 units, mounted horse patrols, and standard patrol duties. These hands-on experiences helped broaden understanding of the important roles law enforcement officers play in the community.

The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics is to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes while fostering community inclusion and championing acceptance. Law enforcement officers proudly serve as “Guardians of the Flame,” carrying the “Flame of Hope” into competitions to empower, support, and celebrate athletes around the world
