Permenter Longhorn Check In
October 16-20, 2023
Notes from the Principal:
- If you missed our Hispanic Heritage Month & STEM Night you missed a treat! Thanks to Spanish teacher Mrs. Sixtos and her team, our students led and were featured in many awesome performances. It was great to see them shine whether they were singing with the choir, hosting the program, speaking with the Spanish club, performing with the cheerleaders, volunteering at the STEM station, or performing mariachi or orchestra -- they were awesome! I am so thankful for all of the teachers, counselors, students and administrators who participated and attended to support!
- Our Permenter scholars have the opportunity to audition for membership in one of the district step teams! The auditions begin this Tuesday, October 17th. If you would like your scholar to participate, please complete the form found here. There is also a clickable image in this newsletter. Let's make sure our babies are represented!
- October 5th and 6th were dates for fall parent conferences. If you were unable to schedule a conference to occur on either of those dates, you can still contact your scholar's teachers to request a different date most likely during their planning period during another week.
- Please encourage your scholar to let a school counselor or administrator know if they are having conflict with others. Some of our scholars are making unhealthy choices to resolve problems and it is resulting in unsafe practices. We want our school to have a productive teaching and learning environment. Please partner with us to help make this happen.
- Please make note that all middle school scholars must wear their ID badges to all CHISD athletic functions and be accompanied by their parents/guardians. This does not include one adult accompanying different scholars that they do not serve as their parent/guardian.
- If your scholar started the school year with an unnatural hair color (blue, pink, bright red, orange, etc.) their grace period expired October 5th. All hair color must now be within CHISD dress code or consequences will be applied. We have started this process after weeks of grace and there still seems to be much confusion. Please be sure to read the dress code carefully so we are all on one accord.
- There has been a revision to our standard of dress for scholars each week. Please make note of the change regarding Fridays. Scholars can now wear college/university tops on Fridays with jeans as another option beyond CHISD spirit attire.
- CHISD has added a Voter-Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to the November 7th Ballot. Please click here to learn amore information about the proposed VATRE and important voter registration guidelines and deadlines.
- Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.
- It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement.
Faithfully,
Dr. Lemons
