Activities

At Second Home, we make learning exciting by giving participants the freedom to choose from a variety of fun and engaging tasks! This lets everyone explore what sparks their interest and aligns with their personal goals. Whether it's customizing tasks, reflecting on their choices, or getting a little guidance when needed, we create an environment where participants can make learning their own adventure. It’s all about empowering them to take charge of their journey, have fun, and grow in the process!

Functional Highlight

Career Exploration

Participants recently engaged in a vocational inventory, exploring their job interests and work preferences. This process is designed to help individuals identify potential career paths, aligning their strengths and interests with future employment opportunities.

Housekeeping

This month, Second Home's daily living skills centered on housekeeping, providing participants with valuable opportunities to develop practical life skills. Through hands-on activities, they practiced essential tasks such as doing the dishes, sweeping, and organizing. Additionally, they focused on building their ability to distinguish between clean and dirty items, helping to improve their attention to detail and self-sufficiency. These activities are designed to promote independence and confidence in managing everyday household responsibilities.

Community-Based Instruction

This month, Second Home participants had the opportunity to engage in two enriching Community-Based Instruction (CBI) outings. The bowling trip allowed individuals to develop and practice essential leisure and social skills in a community setting. Activities like these reinforce important skills such as social interactions, while also boosting confidence and independence. Additionally, Second Home embarked on its first trip to Lifetown, where participants applied various life skills in a "real-world" environment. We look forward to returning! These outings are invaluable in promoting inclusion and offering participants meaningful experiences that support both personal growth and practical knowledge.
