From our Administration
The Borders Bulletin
Welcome to the first edition of the EJMS Jaguar Weekly of the 26-27 school year! We are so excited to welcome all our new families to the Jaguar crew and can’t wait to connect again with our returning families. I’m looking forward to serving this wonderful school in a new role as your principal, even though I’m no stranger to EJMS! We look forward to our teachers being back in the building this week as kick off with work in our contents and our annual staff retreat. We still are accepting donations on “Stock the Den” of snacks, gift cards, or other items to help love on our teachers during these first days back. They will work so hard to prepare the best environments to welcome all our students. Can’t wait to see all your kids on Monday, August 24th for our first day!
🕓 School Schedule Info
A reminder that the first day for students in JCS in Monday, August 24th. The school day at East Jessamine Middle School is 9am - 4pm. The district calendar can be found here.
🚍 Bus Routes
Busing routes are still being finalized. Be sure you sign up at MyRideK12 to be able to get all transportation information for your students.
💻 Chromebooks
We plan to issue Chromebooks to our students the first week of school so they can begin using them in class on Wednesday, August 20th. Reminder: students do not take devices home from EJMS. In order for students to receive a Chromebook, we must have the following items completed:
Online Registration must be complete https://www.jessamine.k12.ky.us/o/jcs/page/olr
School Fees must be paid in Infinite Campus. This includes the current $50 fee for the current school year as well as any outstanding fees on the account.
Each morning students will pick up their device from their 7th period teacher and take the device with them from class to class. At the end of the day students will return the device to their 7th period teacher before leaving school so it can charge and be ready for the next day. All returning 7th and 8th grade students will receive the same device they used last year.
💲School Fee
There will be a $50 school fee per student for the upcoming school year. If enrolled in reduced lunch the cost will be $25, and if enrolled in free lunch, there will be no fee (note: you must enroll in Free/Reduced Meal Eligibility program). All students will have access to a Chromebook in each period throughout the day. Students will be responsible for any damages that occur while in their possession. This school fee will act as insurance for the devices and will cover the cost associated with one incident up to the amount of $50 (such as screen or keyboard replacement).
Have a great week ahead!
Jessamine County Schools is a CEP district, which means all students eat breakfast and lunch for free! However, it is still important to fill out the free/reduced meal eligibility if you believe you qualify for other benefits. Students living in a household that receives government benefits such as SNAP, income eligible Medicaid, or TANF automatically are assigned a Free Meal Eligibility. Each month, School Food Authorities (SFA) receive a Direct Certification (DC) download file from the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) which identifies students who are automatically eligible for benefits. Students identified on the DC list are not required to take any further action. Eligible student fees are automatically waived for these students without request from their parent/guardian.
If you feel your household is INCOME ELIGIBLE, there are 2 ways you may apply for a Free or Reduced Meal Eligibility.
Complete the Meal Benefit Application found in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Once completed, the application will be sent electronically for approval/denial.
Complete the Educational Benefit Form (click here). This form may be completed electronically. If you choose to use this "fillable" form, you will then need to download and email the completed form to allison.banks@jessamine.kyschools.us
Why should families complete one of these forms when students don’t have to pay for meals?
Students who have a Free or Reduced Meal ELIGIBILITY:
Have school technology fees waived or reduced
Have Field Trip Fees waived or reduced
Have Athletic Fees waived or reduced
(Students with a FREE Meal Eligibility have these fees waived 100%, students with a REDUCED Meal Eligibility have these fees reduced by 50%)
From our Youth Services Coordinator
From our School Nurse
6th grade families please make sure you are getting your child’s 6th grade immunization and physicals turned in. We have received very few. All incoming 6th graders must turn these in. You may start turning these into EJMS at this time.
The school nurse will be in the office starting August 14th until the first day of school to receive any forms, medication forms, and medications. If your child will need any medications at school (such as daily meds, inhalers, epi pens, OTC meds) please make sure you get the medication authorization completed and turned into the nurse ASAP.

Incoming 6th grade families:
Attention incoming 6th grade families! Middle School 101 is almost here! All incoming 6th graders at East Jessamine Middle School are invited to join us on Wednesday, August 19 from 9-12 for a chance to meet their teachers, walk through their schedule, explore the building, and ease some of those first-day jitters before the school year begins. Students are welcome to bring their homeroom teacher supplies this day, but no need to bring the remainder supplies for their daily schedule! Reminder, there is no bus transportation or food service on this day.
