Special Education & Student Supports (SESS)
September 2026 Edition
Welcome to JC SESS
Welcome to the first edition of the JC SESS Family Newsletter, a resource from our Special Education and Student Supports (SESS) Team designed especially for our families.
Approximately once each trimester, we’ll share updates, helpful resources, important information, and opportunities to learn more about the people and programs that support our scholars at Julian Curtiss.
In this first edition, we are excited to introduce you to members of our team, welcome some new faces, and share a little more about how we work together to support our scholars and partner with families.
We look forward to staying connected throughout the year!

The JC SESS Team
At Julian Curtiss, supporting our scholars is truly a team effort. Our Special Education and Student Supports (SESS) Team brings together educators and specialists who work collaboratively with scholars, families, classroom teachers, and one another to support learning, growth, independence, and success.
Strong family partnerships are an important part of our work, and we want you to know the people who support your child throughout the school year.
We are excited to introduce our JC SESS Team and welcome some new faces to our family!

My family and I live in Norwalk—which includes my husband, our two daughters, and our rescue dog. We love going to the beach, trying new foods, and spending weekends at the dog park. I can't wait for a fantastic school year together!

Mia Koulopoulos, Speech-Language Pathologist
Hi everyone! I’m Mia Koulopoulos, and I am the new Speech-Language Pathologist at Julian Curtiss. I recently graduated with my Master's in Speech-Language Pathology and am so excited to start my journey here supporting our students' speech, language, and confidence. Outside of school, you can find me at the farmer's market or hiking with my dog. I'm looking forward to working with you all!
Jessica Livingston, School Social Worker
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Jessica Livingston, and I am one of Julian Curtiss' School Social Workers. I have been a part of the Greenwich Public Schools community for six years, and this year, I am in a split position supporting both Julian Curtiss School and Old Greenwich School.
As a School Social Worker, my primary goal is to support the social, emotional, and academic success of every child. I partner closely with students, families, teachers, and administrators to ensure each child feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.
I love to spend time with my family, especially my two children ages nine and six. I love to take my children on adventures to the beach, playground and out in nature. I enjoy playing beach volleyball in the spring and summer.
Meredith Gillam, Special Education Teacher
I will be working with students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade this year! This is my 12th year at Julian Curtiss, and I especially love teaching writing. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year and to learning from the many new faces joining our team!
Shantal Jackson, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Hello JC families! My name is Shantal Jackson, and this is my fifth year supporting the JC school community as a Special Education Teacher, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and member of the district's SESS Behavior Team. Working across multiple schools, my consultation-based role supports school teams and families through the school planning team referral process. I specialize in providing targeted support for students receiving Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, as well as collaborating on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students with significant behavioral needs.
Renay Williams, School Psychologist
My name is Renay Williams. This is my second year at Julian Curtis school. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The State University of New York at Potsdam and went on to complete both my master’s degree and Sixth-Year Certificate in School Psychology at Southern Connecticut State University. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students from early childhood through high school in both urban and suburban school districts. These experiences have deepened my commitment to supporting students' learning, social-emotional well-being, and personal growth. Outside professional life, I enjoy traveling, cooking, going to the gym, and most of all, spending time with my family. I am looking forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families of Julian Curtiss and working together to build a supportive and successful school year.

As I enter my seventh year as an Occupational Therapist and my fifth year as a school-based Occupational Therapist at Julian Curtiss Elementary School, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting students as they build the skills and independence they need to succeed in and beyond the classroom. I truly value communication and collaboration with families and look forward to working together throughout the 2026–2027 school year. On a personal note, I am originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, and attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Psychology and my master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
