October 19 - October 23
Dear Quest to Learn Families and Students,
We hope our students and families had a great week and are ready for the exciting learning opportunities and events ahead!
Progress reports were sent home last week and in November you will have the opportunity to speak with your student's teachers about their progress during Family Conferences. We are also beginning our middle school WIN (What I Need) period, which will provide students with targeted support and enrichment. Letters regarding each middle school student’s WIN placement were sent home today.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming prospective students and families at our Open House for incoming 6th and 9th graders on October 20 from 5:00–6:00 p.m. We are also excited to celebrate our school community at our Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 22 from 3:00–5:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Fund Your Music Education and Earn up to $1000
Sound Thinking NYC is now a CommonTime Education partner, and there's a scholarship grant opportunity for students
Colleges recruit athletes. Almost nobody recruits the artists. We're changing that for our students.
Sound Thinking NYC has partnered with CommonTime Education to open a scholarship grant opportunity exclusively for students in New York City. Through the partnership, young musicians can build a profile that puts the years they've already put into their instrument in front of the people who award scholarships and recruit talent.
Every student in New York City is eligible, you do not have to be planning a music major to apply.
How to apply:
- Scan the QR code below (or visit https://app.ctpathways.com/youth-fund/sound-thinking-nyc/apply)
- Create your profile with CommonTime Education
- Add a performance video, finish, and submit
Applications are LIVE and close October 30th.
SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIPS AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Inspiring Minds
Happy October Qdents!
So many exciting things are happening this month & I can’t wait to share these experiences with you all.
Attendance 🗓️
Attendance is more than just being the building. How much time are you spending in the classroom? How long do you want to stay at Quest? Don’t let 10 minutes of “fun” in the hallway keep you here an extra semester. Do the right thing today and every day.
We’ve got options for our first attendance trip in early February. But will you make the list? To qualify for any attendance rewards you must be in school every day, on-time, and not show up on the cut report. Feel free to check-in with me to see where your attendance stands so far this school year.
After-School 🏃🏽♀️
Our boxing lunch club starts TODAY during 6th period, and every Tuesday, in Room 702. Only 15 students will be able to participate during each session for safety.
After-school also starts TODAY, October 13th with Beauty & Beyond (Room 527), Crochet (Room 529), and Open Art (Room 518). Click here to view the full schedule for everything that will begin this week or connect with me in Room 539. Clubs are open to all grades!
Join me on Thursday during lunch in Room 539 for the first session of Refresher Station. We’ll be making Morir Soñando while supplies last.
Basketball Tryouts 🏀
Tryouts for the NYSAA basketball team will be held on October 20th in the West Gym. Connect with Coach Jason or Coach E for more information.
Internships 👩🏽🏫
Want an in-school job for $18 an hour? Attending school regularly? Attending ALL your classes? Applications will be available from October 26th - November 13th. All applicants will be contacted via email to schedule an email before any job offers are made.
Open positions are IM Ambassadors, Nuestra Voz Ambassadors, Village Ambassadors, and Peer Mediators for students in 8th - 12th grade.
School Store 🍿
The school store will launch after the first Town Hall. If you still have QBucks from last year, you will be able to spend them in addition to your earnings for the first marking period.
You can earn QBucks for perfect attendance, academic awards, honor roll, and upholding any of the Quest core values. QBucks can be spent on snacks, juice, and more exciting rewards.
