Jefferson Elementary: 1st Grade Inquiry Takes Flight! š£
Our 1st graders had a "feathered" friend visit this week to kick off their newest inquiry-based unit on incubation and life cycles! A huge thank you to Farmer Becky from Red Rebel Rooster Farm for spending time with our students.
Highlights of the Visit:
Meet the Quails: Students practiced their observation skills and had the chance to pet Farmer Beckyās quails.
New Tech: Teachers introduced the concept of "candling"āa technique using external light to peek inside an egg and monitor growth.
Next Steps: Over the next few weeks, our young researchers will use these tools to track real-time changes as they wait for their eggs to hatch!
This hands-on experience connects our students directly to the natural world and sets the stage for weeks of questioning, data collection, and discovery.
Science Fair 26'
On Friday, March 13th, our gym was buzzing with excitement as we hosted 33 brilliant Science Fair participants! It was incredible to see so many cool and interesting projects from our young scientists, whose curiosity and hard work were on full display.
We were especially honored to welcome 6thā8th grade students from the DMMS Conservation Club, who served as guest judges. They provided thoughtful feedback and encouragement to our 3rdā5th grade presenters, making it a wonderful mentorship experience for everyone involved.
The energy in the room was fantastic! It was a joy to see so many families, loved ones, and fellow Jefferson students stopping by to ask questions and show their support.
We are now excited to announce that we will be sending a handful of students to Regionals, where they will represent our school and compete against other young scientists from across the region. We are so proud of all our participants for their dedication and scientific spirit!

PBIS Lunch with the Principal
Celebrating our JAGS Leaders! Students who went above and beyond this week were nominated for a special lunch with the principal. These leaders stood out by being prepared, acting safely, showing respect, and always giving their best effort. We had a blast celebrating their hard work!
Attendance Updates
Attendance Updates
Each month, we will send attendance letters to families of students who have reached an absence threshold as defined by state attendance requirements. When your student reaches a specific number of tardies, excused absences, or unexcused absences, you will receive a letter sharing this information.
These letters are intended to support our partnership with families in promoting consistent attendance. Consistent attendance means students are present at least 90% of the time.
If you have any questions about attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are happy to review attendance guidelines with you and discuss your studentās current attendance record.
