A Message from Ms. Peterson

Hello MCP3 Families,

MCP3 enjoyed our Quarter 1 Family engagement event at our Fall Fest last Friday! Families and scholars enjoyed fall games, crafts, and activities together and we had over 30 parents attend and 8 volunteers from our MCP network help out! Here are some of the parent's favorite part of fall fest:

  • Spending time with my son and getting to know how his class works.
  • Everyone's engagement, fun activities, and the organized process.
  • The GAMES!
  • Interacting with the kids.

Be sure to watch the video below and in DOJO to see who our family winner is for attending!

Our next family engagement opportunity will be at our Quarter 1 mandatory parent-teacher conferences in November and our Quarter 2 family engagement event will be an evening Family Game Night in January! More details to come.

Upcoming Field Trips

  • Wednesday, 10/21: Room 121 (Panthers) & Room 122 (Tigers) go to Kids in Motion 9:00-1:00pm. Scholars may wear jeans with their uniform tops.

๐Ÿค“What are the Scholars Learning?๐Ÿ“š

Theme 2: My Family and Friends

Week 4: My Community

As children begin to explore relationships beyond their family, they expand their awareness into the community. A community is a group of people who live, work or play close to one another. The people in the community that children relate to first are neighbors and community workers. This week, children will explore the people in their community who keep them safe and healthy (doctor, firefighter, mail carrier, nurse, police officer, etc.).

Vocabulary Words this week:

community, gratitude, neighbor

Read Aloud Books:

Community Helpers

Better Things to Do

Math Concepts:

Attributes: classification (putting items in groups when they all have something that is the same about them)

STEAM: Road Construction

Scholars will learn about various roadways such as roads, bridges, tunnels, and overpasses. They will be challenged to use building materials to create various roadways and test the functionality of their roadway with a small toy car.
