December 6, 2024

Dear HES Families and Caregivers,

I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing break last week and are ready for the busy and exciting days of December ahead!

This week, we wrapped up our first session of clubs. We’re thrilled with the participation and enthusiasm we’ve seen so far! Registration for the winter session, running from January 6 to February 14, will open soon. We encourage all of our Sharks to join at least one club this year. Clubs are a fantastic way for students to explore new interests, connect with peers, and build friendships. Creating a strong sense of community and belonging is at the heart of what we do at Harwich Elementary School.

Tonight, we’re proud to feature our fourth-grade chorus performing at the annual tree lighting ceremony at Doane Park. We hope you’ll join us to cheer on our talented vocalists, who have worked so hard to prepare for this special event. Your support means the world to them!

Thank you for your continued partnership in making HES a wonderful place for learning and growth. Stay warm, and take care!

Warm regards,
Christie

As a safety reminder, please do not drop off children in the morning if you do not see staff outside. The early drop off time is 7:15 - 7:30 am. Before 7:15 and after 7:30, there is no supervision, and the doors are locked. With the temperatures dropping, this is particularly important. Thank you!

Call the Attendance Line If Your Shark Is Absent Call the Attendance Line If Your Shark Is Absent

Per the handbook, if your child is unable to attend school, please enter the absence in PickUp Patrol and/or call our designated attendance line, 617-848-0115, as early as possible. Soon after arrival, our office staff begins to call the caregivers of absent students if we haven't already heard from them. This is important, as we want to ensure that all students are safe. Your phone message with the reason for the absence is all we need. While an email to the teacher is helpful, it sometimes doesn't make its way to the office staff. Thank you for your help!
