A Message From the Principals
Dear Bobcat Families,
What a wonderful start to the school year! As we wrap up our third week of school, it's been such a joy to see our students learning, growing, making new friends, and becoming more confident in their daily routines. Our classrooms are filled with curiosity, laughter, and so many moments that remind us how special our school community is.
As we head into the Labor Day weekend, we hope your family has the chance to slow down, enjoy some quality time together, and recharge for the weeks ahead. Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us each day and for the many ways you support our school. We truly appreciate your partnership.
We wish you a safe, happy, and relaxing holiday weekend and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday, ready for another great week of learning!
Have a wonderful weekend and Go Bucks!

Important Procedures and Reminders
Important Safety Reminder: Help Us Keep Boundaries Secure During Drop-Off & Recess
The safety and security of our students is our highest priority. During the school day, we teach and remind our students not to approach the perimeter fence to talk to anyone, ensuring they remain in designated safe areas under staff supervision.
To help reinforce this important safety rule, we kindly ask that parents and family members do not approach the fence to say hello or talk to their children, specifically during arrival/drop-off and recess. When children see family members at the fence during these times, it creates confusion around our safety boundaries and makes it harder for students to practice these critical safe behaviors.
Your support in following this guidance helps us to maintain a secure environment and keep all of our students safe. Thank you for working with us to protect our school community.
Safety Drill
We are going to complete a Safety Drill at Barrington Elementary School the week of Sept. 14th - Sept. 18th. We will work in cooperation with the Upper Arlington Schools Resource Officers, Upper Arlington Police Department and other safety officials to make the drill a success.
Prior to the drill, we will go over expectations for the safety drill during class. While students will know this is a drill, we take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously and this safety drill is an important step to establish a safe, respectful and caring environment in our building. We encourage you to speak to your students, that if they see something, that they should say something to a staff member, SRO, cook, custodian or other trusted adult. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for your support and helping us to make Barrington a safe and kind place to be.

District Updates
Building tour opportunities
On November 3, residents will vote on a combined operating levy and bond issue that would maintain the district’s current educational programming and fund the second phase of the facilities master plan, which calls for rebuilding Hastings Middle School and Burbank Early Childhood School as well as renovating and rebuilding Jones Middle School.
As residents consider Issue 7, we are providing opportunities to get a first-hand look inside each of these schools. All three buildings will be open on Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday October 8, with tours beginning at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
To learn more about the building tours or Issue 7, please click here.
Profile of an Engaged Learner Survey
The fall survey window is September 21st - October 2nd. The district office will email parents/caregivers links to survey questions and to topic alignment with our Profile of an Engaged Learner. Families will also receive the link to opt their student(s) out of the survey if they so choose. The opt-out form will accept responses through September 17th.
Jones swing space informational meetings
If the November 3 ballot issue funding the second phase of the master plan is approved by voters, Jones Middle School would undergo a major renovation and rebuilding project. That work would tentatively begin in the spring / summer of 2028 — and, because of the scope of the project, Jones students would need to learn in alternate locations for approximately 2 ½ to 3 years, beginning with the 2028-2029 school year. This would impact students currently in grades 2-6 who would be attending Jones during that time. We know that is a significant change for students and families, and we want to make sure you have an opportunity to learn more about what that would look like and ask questions.
Families of students currently in grades 2-6 at Barrington, Tremont, Wickliffe and Jones are invited to attend one of two swing space informational meetings.
Thursday, September 17: 7:00 p.m. in the Jones Middle School cafeteria
Friday, September 18: 11:00 a.m. at the Bob Crane Community Center

Meals on Wheels – An Opportunity to Give Back
Did you know that Barrington Elementary sponsors a Meals on Wheels route, delivering meals to neighbors throughout Upper Arlington? This meaningful service takes place year-round, including during the summer months, and is a wonderful way for families to make a positive impact in our community.
Middle and high school students are welcome to volunteer and may be able to earn service hours while helping deliver meals.
If you're interested in learning more or joining our Meals on Wheels team, please contact our Meals on Wheels Chair, Meredith Pyers, at Meredith.pyers@gmail.com.
