The EPHS CTC Bi-Weekly Update

Townie TechNewsletterThe EPHS CTC Bi-Weekly Update

Welcome Back!!!

We hope you had a restful summer break. The CTC is excited to get back into action, welcoming about 250 new Freshmen and over 500 returning Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. This year, CTC enrolled students make up about 45% of the EPHS student body, and this number is expected to grow. We continue to expand Career and Technical opportunities available to students with the accreditation of our Electrical and Health Occupations programs in Spring of 2022, and continued expansion of the Dental Assisting program. In the long term, we hope to add new programs such as Broadcasting and Fashion Design.

The EMT Program Takes Off!!!

Through a partnership between American Safety Training Programs INC, and the Health Occupations Program, EPHS seniors are now able to take an EMT class during the school day and become certified Emergency Medical Technicians by the time they cross the stage June. The 12 students currently enrolled in this course will receive classroom instruction, hands on training on state of the art equipment, and ride along hours with local emergency crews in preparation to take the EMT Certification Exam this spring.

EPHS CTC Electrical Students Help Out at the Haunted Labyrinth

Mr. Heatherton and 11 of his Electrical Technology students are going out to work at the Haunted Labyrinth in Cranston, wiring electrical fixtures for emergency lighting and props for the non-profit Halloween attraction which will be open to families throughout October. Our students will be there during the school day on a couple of Fridays this month earning community service hours and gaining valuable work-based learning experience in preparation for their career.
