Warrior Families,

November is a wonderful time to reflect on all that we are thankful for in our school community. As the days get shorter and the weather turns colder, our students continue to shine—with kindness, curiosity, and determination. I’m grateful every day for the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the enthusiasm our students bring to learning.

Classrooms are deep into learning, especially with literacy growth. Teachers are emphasizing goal-setting and perseverance as students work toward making positive progress. Please take time to ask your child what they’re reading or a goal they’re working toward—those conversations make a big difference!

As the weather gets cooler, please remind students to dress appropriately for recess. We go outside whenever possible to keep our students active and energized. I continue to be proud of the kindness, curiosity, and determination I see in our students each day.

Consistent attendance is key to success. As we approach the busy holiday season, please make every effort to have your child at school on time each day. Even one or two missed days can make it harder for students to keep up. Thank you for partnering with us to build strong attendance habits.

Warrior Reminders:

  • Please make sure your child arrives to school on time each day. Student drop off and breakfast begins at 7:40 AM. Students need to be in their classrooms no later than 8:10 am.
  • Don’t forget to dress your student appropriately for the weather – layers are always a good idea for fall.
  • Attendance matters. If your child is absent, please contact the school explaining the reason for their absence. Regular attendance is critical to student success. We understand that illness and family emergencies happen, but we ask that families make every effort to schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours. Consistent attendance is one of the keys to academic success.

Finally, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our families for your continued support. Together, we’re helping our students grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Thank you for being an essential part of our school family.

Every day is a great day to be a Warrior!

With Gratitude,

Ben Fieck

Principal

Otisistaluha (Josie) Arnold and Ruby (K) Keophanomkone. These two 7th graders are both highly skilled creative artists who are always ready to jump into any project. Josie and Ruby are a true joy to have in the classroom.

STATE LAW: A COPY OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE NEEDS TO BE IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE STATE LAW: A COPY OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE NEEDS TO BE IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE

Attention Parents:

If you have not already done so, please bring in your child's birth certificate. Tiffany Bauman/LDF Registrar needs a copy of every child's birth certificate in the school office. It is important to know that not having the birth certificate in your child's file, could affect their registration to school in the fall and also may create extra confusion when getting school clothes via the Economic Support Program. Any questions, please direct them to the school 715.588.3838 ext. 197.

Thank you.

Helping Your Child Receive the Full Benefit of Their Education-Facts from the Attendance Office

An absence is any time your child misses any portion of the school day after the start of school (8:10 AM) and before the scheduled end of school (3:25 PM).

Absences are further broken down as excused and unexcused.

All excused absences require communication with school. Any absence lacking communication remains unexcused until such time as information is provided to the school. For an absence to be excused, we need communication from you (email, phone call, written note). It is never too late to communicate for a past absence. Remember, good attendance is more than simply complying with laws; rather, it is truly a matter of providing our children with more and better opportunities to learn!

7 Grandfather Teachings --

The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Native American way of life are built around the seven natural laws, or sacred teachings. Each teaching honors one of the basic virtues intrinsic to a full and healthy life.

Each law is embodied by an animal to underscore the point that all actions and decisions made by man are manifest on a physical plain. The animal world taught man how to live close to the earth, and the connection that has been established between the animal world and that of man has instilled a respect for all life in those who follow the traditional way.

  • The Eagle teaches us LOVE. Love must be unconditional.
  • The Buffalo teaches us RESPECT. Respect is the condition of being honored.
  • The Bear teaches us COURAGE. Courage is the ability to face danger, fear, or changes with confidence and bravery.
  • The Butterfly teaches us HONESTY.
  • The Beaver teaches us WISDOM. Wisdom is the ability to make decisions based on personal knowledge and experience.
  • The Wolf teaches us HUMILITY. Humility is being humble and not arrogant.
  • The Turtle teaches us TRUTH. Truth is to know and understand all the seven teachings have given to us by the Creator and to remain faithful to them.
