Head Cheetah Message
Families,
Please let it be over!!! Our parking lots can’t handle another flake! This week’s wild weather has resulted in the need for a flexible spirit, and MANY rescheduled meetings and events. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to catch up, and ensure the safety of our school community. We are looking forward to welcoming all of you into the building next week for Parent/Teacher conferences. Don’t forget to stop by the Scholastic Book Fair while you’re here!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Joey & Andrea

PE Newsletter, February 2026
Hi everybody!
The first couple weeks of February we finished up our beachball volleyball skills unit, a big favorite with the students!
We always begin class with our usual fitness component and our warmups with stretching and exercises. We were busy having some fun with the beachballs, practicing our skills and cooperative skills with activities with a partner(s). Then after a couple weeks we moved to the nets (adjusted appropriately to the grade of our classes). Our older grades also did modified games with the option to also do the "serving club" as one of our assessments.
Towards the middle of February we transitioned to one of our "stations unit" and will continue with that unit for about two weeks, taking us up the beginning of March.
Some of the stations we offered were:
Pickleball skills
Ice cream/snow cones
Tic tac toe targets (with bean bags)
"Click it" hand held eye- hand coordination equipment
Spinning plates
Basketball shooting
Long and short jump ropes
Hula hoops
Rock climbing wall
Jumping sticks
Stacking cups
Volleyball play at the net
After our stations unit, our younger grades will try their skill at modified shuffleboard skills games and a hockey shooting area (thanks to our Gold Medal winning women's and men's Olympic Hockey Teams!), as well as other new stations as space allows.
Our older grades will move into our badminton skills and games/shuffleboard/fitness lab equipment rotations for 3 weeks.
The gym is always a busy place, it will be extra busy with a lot of coordination and cooperation on the students part for everything to take place at once like a "well oiled machine", but the classes always do a great job and really like this unit!
Just fyi, the students are starting to ask "when is gymnastics?". Gymnastics is our longest unit, and probably our "fan favorite" among the students. Our gymnastics unit begins when the students return back from April vacation and runs for 6 weeks with the last week our cargo net climbing portion.
A blast from the past for our parents who went to elementary school here at Memorial School: do any of you remember doing the rope climbing unit and Indiana Jones Obstacle Course we used to do many, many years ago? We still have a lot of "ex-student/present parents" ask about those two units when we see them at open house and parent conferences, hard to forget them, the "good old days"!
Have a great March and hopefully no more snow storms and days off!

Attendance Matters
Please note
When considering the number of absences your student has accrued, keep in mind that a student must be present for 195 minutes in order for the day to count! When bringing your student in late, or signing them out early if they have not been in school for a 195 minutes the day will be recorded as an absence.
