Science Bins Science Bins

From the desk of Georgia Pierson:

Hi everyone!

I wanted to clarify the opportunity we may have for next school year regarding how our science materials are delivered and stored, and I’d love to get your input!

Next year, we may have the opportunity to have a say in whether our school continues receiving science materials in the large bins throughout the year or whether we keep the science materials at our school and manage them ourselves.

If we choose to keep the materials at school, we would keep all of the non-consumable items, such as books, goggles, and other reusable materials. We would then continue to receive only the consumable materials throughout the year, items that are used once or need to be replenished.

One big advantage would be that we would no longer need to store those large, bulky science bins in our classrooms. Teams would have full autonomy over how and where the materials are stored, whether that is in classrooms, within grade-level pods, or another system that works best for your team.

Another potential benefit is that teams would have more flexibility with the order in which science lessons and units are taught. For example, if a unit includes outdoor observations that are currently scheduled during the winter, teams could choose to move that unit to the spring when the weather may be more appropriate for those activities.

Please take a few minutes to complete the Google Form and share your thoughts about which option you would prefer. Your feedback will help us determine what would work best for our teachers and students.

From the desk of Sue Reichle:

Hi everyone,

Our first charity Jeans Day will be on Thursday, October 22 . Teachers can wear jeans or dress down for five dollars. You will also receive a coupon to wear jeans or dress down on an additional day of your choice.

The kindergarten team picked the first charity. Proceeds will go to The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware. The children can wear crazy hair and socks and pay one dollar. Please turn all money in to the office. Please also let your parents know about this. I will send out a blurb, that you can share, closer to the date.

If your team did not let me know what your charity & student involvement will be, please send that to me so I can create the list for the year.

Thank you so much for your support,

Sue
