𧑠This Week's Character Dare
This Week's CharacterDare is: Be the Crowd (see below).
Ask your students how theyβre doing with their CharacterDare each week, and consider joining them in taking on these CharacterDares yourself! Modeling these character-building challenges can make them even more meaningful for our students.
πͺ Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
Itβs almost that time of the year for our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. This year they will be on Wednesday, October 21 from 3:30-7:30 pm and Thursday, October 29 from 7:30 am-3 pm. π¨ APEX Color Battle Fundraiser Continues
π¨π§‘π€ Weβre halfway through our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need your support! π€π§‘π¨
Our annual APEX Color Battle is well underway, and weβre excited about the opportunity to make this yearβs fundraiser our most successful one yet! This event is not only a whole lot of fun for our students, but it also makes a BIG impact on our school.
Thanks to past APEX fundraisers, weβve been able to add privacy screens to our front and back doors, brand-new gym mats, and βRed One,β our beloved golf cart! πΊ These additions have helped improve our schoolβs safety and security while enhancing our environment for students and staff. We are so grateful for our PTO and the incredible support of our school community!
Now, we need YOU! π As we reach the halfway point, we need everyoneβs help spreading the word and promoting our fundraiser. Please share the fundraiser with friends, family, and anyone who would love to support our school. Every share, donation, and bit of encouragement helps us reach our goal!
Weβre also still looking for a few parent volunteers to help make Color Battle event day a success. If you can spare some time to lend a hand, we would truly appreciate it! Please sign up below to volunteer.
Letβs rally together, spread the word, and finish strong! Thank you for helping make a difference for our students and school!

π΄ Pirates ROCK - Alignment to Portrait of a Graduate
Since 2005, Pirates ROCK (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) has helped shape a strong culture of character across Platte County School District. More than 20 years later and beginning with the 2026-27 school year, we're building on that tradition by aligning Pirates ROCK with our Portrait of a Graduate essential skills.
This evolution creates a more consistent, student-centered approach to character development by focusing on the six essential skills that prepare learners to thrive in school, careers, and life. Students will continue to be recognized for demonstrating outstanding character while developing the competencies that support our mission of ensuring every learner thrives in an ever-changing world with confidence and resilience, all through a consistent framework and shared language as they grow from kindergarten through graduation.
Throughout the year, we'll focus on these essential skills:
- August/September: Effective Communication
- October/November: Self-Awareness
- December/January: Personal Connections
- February: Personal Growth
- March: Problem-Solving
- April: Global Connections
