Outdoor vs. Indoor Recess Outdoor vs. Indoor Recess

As winter is arriving, please be mindful of our indoor recess policy. Please send your child with appropriate clothing to go outside for recess. It also would be greatly appreciated if caregivers would practice putting on coats, snow pants, and boots on at home to help students enjoy their full recess time. Students will be going outside unless the temperature is below 20 degrees and/or the wind chill is below 10 degrees.

Arrival and Dismissal - Friendly Reminders Arrival and Dismissal - Friendly Reminders

As winter weather arrives, please remember our car‑line and parking procedures to keep arrival and dismissal safe for everyone. As a reminder, you may park in the large parking lot near Kylemore or use the car line off Waterford.

Park and Walk Option: If you're using the "Park and Walk" (large parking lot), for safety, please exit your car and escort your child to and from the school. Do NOT use the sidewalk area (see page 4, #2) as a drive‑through drop‑off.

Wheel Chair Area: Please do not park or stop in the wheelchair loading/unloading area in the large parking lot. Keeping this space clear ensures safe, accessible drop‑off and pickup for students and families who rely on it. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Mustang Behaviors: Please model respectful, calm behavior during arrival and dismissal so our students see safe, kind examples. Refrain from engaging in confrontational language or behaviors. If you have a concern, report it to the office so staff can address it.

Thank you for your patience and continued support in safely getting our Mustangs home!

We're proud to announce that Emily Weir is the winner of the Young Professional of the Year award! Emily’s energetic, inclusive, and inventive approach to physical education—whether coaching lacrosse, teaching a roller‑skating unit, or integrating literacy and culture into PE—has made Kinsner a healthier, happier place. She aligns lessons to student IEPs and standards, leads district committees, presents at professional conferences, and champions technology in the classroom. Emily has raised more than $12,000 for the American Heart Association and has been recognized with awards like The Extra Mile Award and the “T in PTA.” Her enthusiasm, leadership, and commitment to students embody the spirit of this honor. Please join us in congratulating Emily for this well‑deserved recognition!

Head Lice Information Head Lice Information

As a reminder before the holiday breaks, this document explains how head lice spread, how to recognize them (look for nits—small, teardrop-shaped eggs—behind the ears and at the nape of the neck), and steps families should take if lice are found: consult a medical provider about treatment, remove nits carefully with a fine-toothed lice comb, and treat the home by washing or sealing items and vacuuming—complete these steps the same day to prevent re-infestation. Head lice are transmitted mainly by direct head-to-head contact or sharing personal items, are not related to cleanliness, and do not come from pets; children should be checked daily for 2–3 weeks after exposure or notification. The school follows a no‑nit policy: students must be nit‑free and checked by the nurse before returning. If you need help, contact the school or district nurse (Kristy Dubsky or Heather Kupetz, RN) or see the CDC links referenced in the full document.
