College Credit Plus Presentation for 25-26 (Due by April 1st)
Both students and parents received an email recently with information regarding College Credit Plus (CCP) for the 2025-2026 school year. All students who want to participate must submit the Letter of Intent by April 1. Students who are new to CCP will also need to apply and take placement testing at the college of their choice. If you missed the in-person meeting on February 13, you will need to watch the CCP information presentation prior to completing the letter of intent. If you have questions, see your counselor.
Thanks!

FFA Presents to 8th Graders
FFA members and officers spoke to Ms. Kreider's 8th grade classes about the opportunities for them in agriculture classes and FFA. They shared about class options and FFA events and contests. To get an idea of a couple of labs we do in ag class, FFA members and officers facilitated a hands-on feed ration lab and allowed students to design their own flower variety. If any 8th grade students or parents have questions about agriculture classes, please reach out to Mrs. Oeder.

Night to Shine
On February 7th, National Honor Society students volunteered at Night to Shine, which is a complimentary event for people with special needs hosted by churches around the world. The event is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and over. Each event is unique to its location but commonly includes a red carpet entrance complete with warm welcome and friendly paparazzi. They also experience hair & make-up stations, shoeshines, limo rides, karaoke, gifts, food, and more.

The National Honor Society recently hosted a drive during lunchtime to collect items for those affected by the wildfires in California.
FAFSA Now Available
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form is open, and you are able to start completing your application. FAFSA is a form that helps students pay for college by determining their eligibility for grants, scholarships, work study, and loans. If you're going to college in the fall (or even if you think you might), you need to complete the FAFSA (regardless of your parents'/guardians' income).
Before you can complete the FAFSA, both you and your parent will need to create an FSA ID. Use a non-school email when you sign up, as you will complete the FAFSA each year you are in college.
To complete your FAFSA, you will need the following:
Your social security number
Federal 2023 income tax returns, records of child support payments, and your current balance of cash, savings, and checking accounts
Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
Records of net worth of investments, businesses, and farms
Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
Your FSA ID
Here is a link to the Federal Student Aid's page that will help answer questions and tell you what to do. It has video links as well. Here is a link to the "Help" page, on which you can search by topic or read through the FAQs.
We know that this seems really overwhelming, but once you have your FSA ID set up and create an account, it typically takes about 30 minutes to complete. You'll want to get your FAFSA completed as soon as you're able.
If you need help, any college's financial aid office will be able to answer questions, and some colleges even host "FAFSA Workshops," at which you can go to the campus and an employee will help you complete the paperwork. Our partner school, Sinclair, offers virtual and in-person FAFSA help to families even if you're not a Sinclair student and do not plan to attend there.
Our CMHS Guidance Team (Beres & Sercu) can answer general questions about FAFSA, but they are not college employees/financial aid experts, we will typically direct you to the financial aid office at the college you plan to attend.
FFA Drive Your Tractor to School Tradition Continues
Tractor day!
Monday 2/24 we celebrated a wonderful FFA week with Drive Your Tractor to School Day. We had 7 students participate with a variety of tractors represented! Thank you to the entire school community for your support during FFA week!
FFA Inaugural Duck Hunt
Our First Annual "Duck Hunt" was a success! We had over 30 students who purchased a duck hunting license and 11 of those found duck and received candy when they turned them in! Our duck hunting season was cut short due to the snow days but we are excited to keep this tradition going during next year's FFA Week! Thank you to all who participated and supported our FFA chapter.
