COLT CAMP INFO
Dear Parents of Incoming 6th Graders (or new to CMS),
Welcome to CMS! On Friday, August 8th, we will host COLT CAMP for all incoming 6th-grade students (and anyone new to CMS). The purpose of Colt Camp is to provide a small glimpse into what middle school will be like and hopefully relieve any new school jitters.
Students:
Will be dropped off at the main door using the carline at 9:00 am (to simulate a normal school day). We will have staff and volunteers on hand to assist with the carline and greet students. The students will gather in the cafeteria for a presentation before being put in groups for rotations and presentations around the building. The students will also receive their schedules. After Colt Camp, the students will be escorted to the gym to meet their parents or guardians.
Parents:
Parents are not required to stay for Colt Camp; however, a parent presentation will be held in the North Gym beginning around 9:30. There will be opportunities to purchase CMS Spirit Wear, join PTA, pick up pre-ordered School Supplies, PE clothing, as well as a few other clubs and organizations. Our CMS backdrops will be set up in the gym for you to grab a picture of your student after Colt Camp! *If you are not staying for the meeting, please make arrangements to pick up your student in the North Gym around 11:00
It’s going to be a great year at CMS! Our team can’t wait to meet our new COLTS!
Personal Technology at School
House Bill 1481 prohibits the use of personal communication devices during the school day. Middle school students may use telecommunications devices before and after school. They may not use telecommunications devices during school hours except for their school-issued devices.
What does this mean for the Colts?
- Personal devices will be in bags, not on Colts, throughout the entire school day.
- Families needing to relay messages can leave messages with the front office staff, and office aides will deliver messages to classrooms.
- Colts needing to contact families can use the phone in the front office during passing periods and lunch or, when appropriate, in their classrooms.
