These dedicated individuals have demonstrated exceptional commitment and perseverance, navigating a rigorous curriculum designed to enhance their professional skills and knowledge. As part of their journey, they engaged in an action-research project, applying their learning to real-world challenges and making meaningful contributions to the field. HHSD Hits a High Note Showcasing Music in Our Schools
This month has unfolded like a masterful symphony, resonating throughout our district with the harmonious melodies of our talented students. From the youngest elementary performers to the seasoned high school musicians, our music programs have taken center stage, proudly displaying the extraordinary skills and dedication of our young talents. Our elementary and middle school music trips have not only provided invaluable experiences but have also offered platforms for our students to showcase their talents in competitive settings.
We publicly recognized the outstanding achievements of several individuals at our last Board meeting. Among the honored are students handpicked for the esteemed Montgomery County Honors Band, a testament to their exceptional musical abilities and dedication. These students included Brenden Craven, Carter Foster, Mary Kate Sweeney, Sadie Van Tassel, Giovanna Costa, Michael Duarte, Kaisa Millar, Anthony Ramos Calderon, Alex Allemang, Emily Murray, Rylan Nellett, Olivia Nguyen, Luca Olson, Morgan Rafferty, Ondine Van Tassel, Miles Verdeur, and Leah Whittaker. Additionally, we celebrated Anthony Ramos Calderon, an 11th-grade student, for his selection to participate in the prestigious 2024 PMEA District 11 Chorus, highlighting his unwavering commitment to the performing arts. Let us continue to nurture and support the musical endeavors of our students as they inspire us all with their remarkable talents.
Treble Choir Wins Big: Ready to Rock the Stage with Foreigner
Congratulations to Hatboro-Horsham High School's Treble Choir for winning B101's 2024 Christmas Choir (In July) Competition! We're thrilled for their well-deserved victory, which not only brings $500 to support their school choir but also grants them the incredible opportunity to perform on stage with Foreigner. The Treble Choir will be joining the iconic band to sing "I Want to Know What Love Is" at the concert on July 28th at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden. This is a fantastic achievement for the choir, and we can't wait to hear their live performance. Listen to their winning performance below.
Bridging Success: Student Ambassadors Lead the Way
Congratulations to our student ambassadors who recently joined 8 other area schools in presenting in Norristown during the CPESA Summit on their impactful work in our schools. Presentations were directed to other districts, superintendents, and local politicians. The bridge work to extend our high school students and programming into KV is particularly exciting, showcasing innovative approaches to education and community building. Their leadership is truly commendable, inspiring both peers and educators alike. We look forward to learning more from their ongoing efforts, as they are dedicated to facilitating a smooth transition to high school for every student. By ensuring that 8th-grade students feel a strong sense of belonging as they enter this new chapter of their educational journey, our ambassadors are laying the groundwork for academic success and personal growth. Their contributions are making a significant difference in our educational community, and we are proud of their leadership.
HHSD K-12 District Art Show Dazzles
The annual HHSD K-12 District Art Show turned the hallways of Hatboro-Horsham High School into a vibrant display of creativity. Hundreds of artwork spanned the walls, featuring outstanding pieces from students across all grade levels. Vibrant paintings, intricate drawings, striking photography, and detailed sculptures showcased the remarkable talents of our budding artists. As visitors strolled through the exhibition halls with music providing a festive backdrop, they marveled at the diverse array of mediums and styles on display. We extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated art teachers who cultivate our students' artistic expression and help make this beloved community event possible year after year.
Unforgettable Day of Unity: HHSD Hosts Special Olympics
HHSD recently had the honor of hosting the Special Olympics, and it was an amazing day filled with joy, determination, and community spirit. Eleven other districts participated in the event, bringing together a diverse group of incredible athletes who showcased their talents and sportsmanship. The highlight of the day was the enthusiastic participation of numerous HHHS high school students, who volunteered as buddies, providing support and companionship to the athletes. Their dedication and kindness helped make the event a resounding success. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event possible, including volunteers, organizers, and supporters. It was a day of celebration, inclusion, and inspiration for everyone involved.
Multilingual Learners Thrive Through Teamwork and Community Building
Multilingual learners at Keith Valley Middle School have been participating in the After School English Language Club, which offers extended learning opportunities. Led by ELD teachers Sarah Beltz and Pier Carey, the program provides tutoring in language skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as well as support in core subjects. Students have the chance to explore digital resources, read graphic novels, and take part in team-building activities. The club recently visited College Settlement Camp, where they engaged in team-building exercises emphasizing the importance of communication and cooperation. This shared experience helped students and teachers develop a stronger sense of community. Following the trip, students reflected on the fun they had and how much they learned about each other, demonstrating the club's holistic approach to language learning and personal growth.
Thank You to our Home and School Associations
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Home and School Associations for their unwavering dedication and hard work. Representatives from these associations recently attended the School Board meeting, where they were rightfully recognized for their invaluable contributions to our schools and community. In appreciation of their efforts, a book was donated to each school, symbolizing the positive impact they have on our students' education and well-being. Thank you to all the members of our Home and School Associations for your continued support and commitment to enriching our educational environment.
HHSD Athletes Take Their Talents to the Next Level
We are incredibly proud to congratulate 15 outstanding HHSD student-athletes who have worked tirelessly to achieve their dreams of competing at the collegiate level. Their dedication to excellence, both on the field and in the classroom, has inspired us all. We cannot wait to follow their continued success and see how they will undoubtedly go on to make their mark. Congratulations to this incredible class of student-athletes.
