Principal’s Note
Partnering for Student Success
We strongly encourage parents and guardians to attend the Save My Family: Digital Media parent night happening this Monday, January 26, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Minico High School. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experts about the impact of cell phones, social media, and screen time on students’ mental health, development, and overall well-being. As families and schools, we are navigating these challenges together, and having shared understanding and common expectations is essential.
In addition to this important conversation, we are continuing to focus on helping students build strong academic habits through Checkpoint #1: No Zeros. Our goal is to support students in being successful by encouraging them to complete and turn in assignments on time—rather than waiting until the last minute. We know this is something families value as well. Students who have no missing assignments or zeros will earn a reward on February 12. Students who still have zeros will use that time to complete missing work with support. This approach allows us to celebrate positive habits while ensuring all students have the opportunity to get back on track.
Thank you for partnering with us as we work together to support our students’ learning, growth, and long-term success.

SAVE MY FAMILY
The Minidoka School District is hosting a SAVE My Family Digital Media parent event focused on supporting children’s mental health, development, and well-being in today’s digital world. This informative evening will take place on January 26 from 6:00–8:00 PM at Minico High School and will feature expert speakers discussing screen time, social media, online safety, and the impact of digital media on the developing brain. This event is designed is designed to help parents learn to navigate children through the digital age. We strongly encourage families to attend this valuable opportunity to learn practical strategies for supporting healthy technology use at home.
Checkpoint #1 - No Zeros
To support students in staying caught up academically, West Minico is implementing Checkpoint #1: “No Zeros.” Students who have no missing assignments and no zeros in any class by Thursday, February 6 will earn a school reward on Thursday, February 13.
This incentive is designed to help students build strong habits early in the semester. It is not about perfect grades—it is about responsibility and completing assigned work. Students who do not meet the requirement will use the reward time to work on missing assignments with teacher support.
We appreciate your partnership in encouraging students to turn work in on time and check grades regularly.
